I need help and don't know who to turn to..

I dated the same guy from my 8th grade summer to my senior year of high school.. A little off and on throughout my first year of college. We fought a lot like most people do but we also have lots of love and memories and two dogs together.. He wants to work things out now but there are two things stopping us.. One, his new girlfriend, he said he's getting rid of her or trying but the girl just keeps coming right back and TWO: my parents, I don't know how to tell them or make them okay with me wanting to get back with him..

He always sends me texts saying things like how much he'd love to just hold me in his arms again and things like that...

WHAT DO I DO?????:((
