You and I♥
>>Chapter 2<<
I woke up in a bright white room with
fluorescent lights shining in my eyes. I could hear the beeping
of machines around me. There was a nurse standing next to me,
feeling along my forearm. "What happened?" I groaned,
feeling my forehead. I sat up and glared at what the nurse was
feeling. She was probing a long, stitched up cut with a bit of
dried blood at the sides. "You got into a fatal car
crash," she explained. "Oh, and you can call me Becky.
I'm your nurse." Becky smiled at me. I returned the
smile and stared at the cuts, scrapes and bruises all over my
arms and legs. Sweat was on my forehead, and I felt an intense
heat sprawling throughout my body. "Where's Zach?"
I questioned, laying back down on the sterile, white pillow
behind me, not expecting an answer. I scanned the room and saw
another girl, small and fragile, looking maybe only six or seven
years old. I gasped.
"Did.. was that one of the people in
the other cars?" I panicked, pulling on Becky's scrubs.
She sighed and adjusted her hair bun, licking her lips before
speaking. "Yeah. Her name's Hope, and she suffered
injuries much more fatal than your's. She was hurt the most
in the accident." Becky whispered, moving over to her bed.
Her eyes were closed and her arms were spread above her copper
locks. She looked so innocent, so fragile, so much like my little
sister, Kara. I started sobbing into my arms. "What's
wrong?" the nurse cooed, stroking my pale blonde hair. I
wiped my tears on my hospital gown and stared straight into her
ocean blue eyes, tears falling down my ruddy cheeks. "She
looks like my sister," I weeped, "I love her. And if I
ever did anything like that to her, I'd kill myself." I
murmured, standing up. "Poor baby. ." she whispered in
reply. "You can go get changed, you're allowed to go
home. A man named Zach Miller is escorting you back to your
home." Becky explained, filing some papers. My face went
pale.
"What? No. Z-Z-Zach isn't
taking me home, no!" I stuttered, slipping into my denim
shorts underneath the hospital gown. My floral strapless top was
already on. I sat down on a chair and started buckling my golden
sandals, weeping quietly. "Why not? He's your boyfriend,
after all," she inquired, staring at me through her curtain
of thick, golden hair. "He.. he was the one who crashed the
car." I whispered. "He can get ja--" I cut her
off. "Have a good day, Becky," I said, pulling open the
door and slamming it shut. I didn't take one look back until
I got into the parking lot and ran into a warm body. "There
you are," Zach smirked.
I whimpered and inhaled the summer air, shutting my eyes tight
for a brief second, hoping if I didn't open them he would go
away. I brightened up and slapped a smile onto my face. "Hi,
baby!" I giggled, kissing him passionately. My eyes were
open the whole time. "I'm not buying your stupid little
act," he growled, slapping me. He usually wouldn't harm
me in public, but he didn't care. He was drunk. I pulled his
hand away from my face and he kicked me in the stomach. I bent
over to hurl and held my stomach, quietly sobbing. I wiped my
tears and stood up straight, despite the excruciating pain.
"I hate you." I said bluntly, breathing through my
nose. He threw a blow to my mouth and growled. "Did you say
you love me, or you hate me?" he asked politely. I smirked.
Politeness my butt.
"I said, I hate you," I repeated, spitting in his face.
"You mean love," he corrected me, confused. I could see
a glimmer of the guy I love in his eyes, beneath all the coldness
and dark heartedness he'd been expressing. I could tell he
was the slightest bit hurt. I kicked him in the shins and wiped
the blood from my face, bending over my stomach. I leaned my face
up towards him and sighed. "Zach! Babyy!" a girl cried.
I could recognize that voice. I glanced towards the direction of
the sound and was astonished to find out that my best friend,
Jamie, was standing there, practically making out with him.
"Hey babe," he grunted, wrapping an arm around her
waist. The other arm was still rubbing his sore shin. My jaw
dropped. "You.. are dating.. my boyfriend?" I
questioned her. Vomit poured out of my mouth from the blow to my
stomach. I cried to myself. "Yeah. So?" she asked.
Tears kept streaming down my face. "You.. you.. I hate you,
too, Jamie," I whispered, throwing a ball at her. She
shrieked and ducked down, then snuggling back into Zach's
arms. I sighed and calmly began talking. "You dirty, drunken
cheater! You are definitely not the guy I dated, Zach. Nope,
you're just somebody else. Somebody that I used to
know." I paused.
"Because the guy
standing in front of me right now, is not my
boyfriend."
