The
Secrets To A Perfect Season
chapter two
Me: Pat
Klien's on our team.
Court: For real? why would your dad do that?
Me: He doesn't know what happened last summer
Court:You didn't tell him!
Me: I handled it myself, did I not?
Court: You did but still Hayden, that was crazy.
Me: Hopefully he doesn't do anything that crazy again this
summer.
Court: HOPEFULLY

It was the night of our first practice. I was excited but
dreading it. Excited to see some of the boys I hadn't seen
since the tournament team. When I walked up on the practice I saw
some of the boys had already gathered. I didn't see Pat which
was a good sign. Then I heard a voice behind me.
"Hayden? Is this freaking for real?"
I turned around and saw him.
"I'm not thrilled either Pat. But I've been doing a
lot of thinking. We should set aside our differences for the sake
of the team. Then we can go back to hating each other once this
is over."
"You have no right to hate me." He said. He actually
freaking said that.
"Are you kidding me Pat? Do you remember what you did last
summer."
"That guy was a tool. And you know it."
"That doesn't change what you did and how you did
it."
"Yolo." He walked past me without another word. This
was gonna be a long summer.

"He seriously said you have no right to hate him?"
Courtney whispered. We were sitting listening to the end of
practice talk and didn't want to get busted for talking
ourselves.
"Yeah he was like Brendan was a tool and you know it.
Unbelievable."
"Well, Brendan kind of was a tool."
"That's not the point."
"I know. I know. But he acts like what he did was no big
deal."
"Maybe, he'll change and realize the truce is a good
idea."
"Doesn't seem likely right now. You saw how he acted
during practice. Cracking girl jokes and literally running over
me in the outfield. He's ridiculously immature."
"Just give it time Hayden."
We got up to leave and someone bumped into me. I turned around.
Pat . Ughh.
"See ya bud."
