I heard pounding on the side of my house,
i looked out my window and saw Carter,
his light brown hair,
and dazling green eyes stood out in the dark.
I signaled for him to climb up to my window.
I knew he was terrified of heights,
so it took some convincing.
I could risk him coming in the front door and waking my mom. We did this a lot for the next few weeks,
every night when he could, he would climb to my window to make sure i was safe.
Every night before i closed my eyes,
i would tell him he didn't have to stay, but he always did.
He told me it was for his "scientific study" He wanted to take notes down on my dreams,
and how bad the cuts and bruises had gotten,
but I knew he was just trying to protect me.
Some nights when i had night mares i would scream and cry, he would lay on my bed and hold me like a child,
running his fingers through my long aubrey hair until i fell asleep. I felt so safe in his arms, almost like nothing else mattered but him.
I don't know, maybe it's just the heat of the moment,
but latley i have been looking at Carter for more than my best friend,
maybe i was falling for him.
