Chapter 18

Kate's Point of View
      I could believe it. My best friend was dating my first love.
Drew hadn’t even crossed my mind since I met Evan, but now here he was.
As he walked closer, I could feel all the memories rushing back to me, the good and bad.
This is the first time I’ve seen Drew since the day I left Jamaica.
He walked up to Taylor and kissed her.
I know it shouldn’t have bothered me but it did.
At that moment I felt like I couldn’t breathe, like the wind just got knocked out of me.
I couldn’t stand to stay there any longer.
I started to run down the beach away from Taylor and her friends.
I found a large rock at the end of the beach and got up on it and curled up in a ball, wrapping my arms around my legs.
I wasn’t crying, but this still bothered me. I just didn’t know why.
I had Evan and I was perfectly happy without Drew.
But he was my first love, and I guess it’s true.
You never really get over your first love.
 
Drew’s P.O.V 
I walked up the boardwalk toward Taylor and her friends.
There was a new girl with her, and I didn’t really seem to recognize her.
I’m not going to lie. She was gorgeous, but in my eyes, nobody compared to Taylor.
I walked up to Taylor and kissed her like I always do.
I was only there for about five seconds, when I saw the girl run away down the beach.
The short glimpse I had gotten of her made me realize how familiar she looked.
It’s like I had seen her somewhere before.
But who was she?
I turned to Taylor. “Who was that?” I asked really confused.
“My best friend from PA, her name’s Kate, Kate Stevens,” she said going to run after her.
No, that couldn’t have been Kate.
I would’ve recognized her with one look into her beautiful crystal blue eyes, but then again I didn’t get a chance to see those eyes.
She looked a bit different, but then again I haven’t seen her in quite a while.
Her blonde hair was perfectly straight as usual but lighter than I remember, and I think she got taller. Either way she was still the same old Kate I remember.
God, she was beautiful.
Seeing her again in person felt so good. I had forgotten how beautiful she actually was until now.
I didn’t know she knew Taylor either. All of this was just too weird.
When they get back, I need to get everything straightened out.
