Torn In Between

Chapter 5:
The knock at the door surprised me the next morning. I crawled out of bed, and Mrs. Kelly, the school nurse, was standing there. “Come with me” she said. I nodded, and followed her down the long hallway to nurse’s office. I sat in a brown leathery couch, and gulped. I knew something was wrong, and from the look on her face, I could tell she knew what it was.
“This may take you by surprise when I ask you this but, have you ever entered the Otherworld?” she asked, handing me a tissue. I hadn’t even noticed I was crying. I shook my head. The Otherworld???
She let out a long breath, and mumbled something under her breath. “When you were out..What did you see?” she asked. I wiped the tissue under my eyes. I explained to her my experience, and she nodded. “Like I said, I think you must have a connection with the Otherworld.. What you had was a vision. A vision of someone close to you. It wasn’t you.. It was Peyton Kristens.” She said.
Peyton Kristens?  I knew the name from somewhere. “Peyton is one of your friends?” she asked. “That’s where I know that name from! I went to school with her in kindergarten. What happened to her?” I asked. She bit her lip. I frowned. “She died last night..” she said, sighing heavily.
“What? How?” I asked, holding back the tears. “It’s all going to be okay! I’ve made arrangements..You’re going to attend the funeral. That is if you want” Mrs. Kelly said. I nodded.
“You ignored my question.. How did she die?” I asked. “Car crash. The roads were really icy and a big log truck…It tried to stop, but it couldn’t. It slid, and turned completely around, and it went through her skull” she said, almost to tears also.
I walked back to my room, trying to do like Mrs. Kelly had said, and forget about it. The door was already open and the entire baseball team was inside. I felt kind of awkward. “Hey we were just talking about the next game.. You can sit and listen if you want” Coach Ryan said.
“It’s fine. I’ll just go to the library or something” I lied. I walked outside, and headed towards the ocean. The crystal blue liquid lapped against the shore. I put my feet in the cool water. “Hey there” said a strong, deep voice behind me.
