Breathless
Chapter
13
The most boring person on earth, that’s how I would
describe myself. The most idiotic person on earth would fit, too.
I had turned down the guy I really liked. Was I stupid? I shook
my head in frustration, and headed out to my car. As I approached
it, I saw a towering boy leaning against my hood. He had curly
black hair that came just above the tops of his ears. As I got
closer, I still couldn’t place the boy.
“Uh, hi?” I said as I stepped in front of the boy.
“This is my car?” The boy looked at me with the
fiercest blue eyes I had ever seen. They were beautiful. He
smiled, revealing perfect white teeth behind his tanned lips. He
was dark.
“I’m sorry. I couldn’t help myself. I saw you
running the other day, and I thought I should introduce myself.
I’m Liam Sullivan,” He purred. My knees went a little
weak, like they were made from putty. He was just so cute. And he
was talking to me. I smiled my best smile.
“I’m Addison Sparks.”
“Oh, trust me. I know who you are.” Liam looked at me
like I had never been looked at. My knees instantly got even
weaker. He nodded like he was confirming something. “So,
Addison. Would you like to go out with me tonight? Please?
It’ll be fun, I swear.” Liam looked down at my, his
long black eyelashes blocking the view of his eyes. It made him
look… sexy. I didn’t even know this kid, but I felt
my lips form the words.
“I’d love to.”
“Great. I’ll pick you up at seven?” He asked,
backing away. I nodded, smiling to him. He turned around, and
walked to his Jeep Wrangler. I watched him as he peeled out of
the parking lot. So what if I was fighting fire with fire? This
fire was a cute fire, and I didn’t care if I got
burned.
When I got home, I went into all out
get-ready-quick-for-this-hot-date mode. What to wear, what to
wear? I had to impress Liam, it was a must. My red cowgirl boots
popped into my mind first. Perfect, Addison. I smiled to
myself, and pulled them out of their box. The outfit came
together itself after that. I slipped into a pair of shorts, and
a cut white shirt. I added a little diamond bow necklace, and
proceeded to do my makeup. I lightly applied my makeup, keeping
it neutral, but making my eyes stand out. I applied mascara to
them, and straightened my hair. With my hair straight, it fell a
few inches above my waist. I looked at myself. Well, it
didn’t look too bad. I looked over at my clock. I still had
ten minutes. I went into my bathroom, and brushed my teeth. You
can never be too careful when it comes to dates. I sprayed some
perfume on my body, and headed downstairs. As I came off the last
step, the doorbell rang. I rushed to the door, and opened it.
Liam was standing on the other side, looking stunning. His hair
fell in perfect little ringlets on the side of his head, and he
was wearing the most gorgeous shade of blue. It made his eyes
look even brighter.
“You look… beautiful Addison,” Liam said,
breathless. His face was flushed. He was just so cute.
“Thank you. You look good yourself.” I smiled at him.
Good yourself? Was I drunk? I could be messing this up! Liam
returned the smile, setting me at ease.
“So, I was thinking maybe we got to dinner, and then a
party?” He looked at me hopeful. A party. Last time I was
at one of those, I had thrown a fit on Xavier. I was trying to
stay away from all the drinking and drama that came with it. But,
as I found myself looking into Liam’s sky blue eyes, I felt
myself nod.
“That sounds perfect.” I heard myself murmur. Liam
held out his hand, and it took it happily. He opened the midnight
blue door to his BMW. Gosh, this kid must be filthy rich. He
peeled out of my driveway, and headed straight towards the upper
part of Sacramento.
We ate at this really romantic restaurant. My cheeks hurt from
laughing so much. Liam was so charming and funny. He was just an
all-around good guy. Liam led me out to his BMW, and opened the
door for me. Next on the list of to-dos was the party. Stay
sober, I thought to myself. I snuck a peak at Liam. He was
looking straight ahead, paying close attention to the road. As we
rounded the corner of the street, I could already tell I was in
for it. Liam parked the car, and got out. This wasn’t going
to be good. Why, might you ask? Because. This was
Xavier’s party.
