Chapter
thirty-five
I
woke up the next morning and immediatly remembered that today was
the day I was going to see Hunter. I glanced at the clock,
noticing it was already 10:31. Hunter was coming at noon.
My phone vibrated and I realized I had 3 new messages. One
was from Derek: morning! The other two were from
Callie: OMG! U'LL NEVER GUESS WHAT! oh, yeah good
morning, but GUESSGUESS! Well that's odd? I the read
the second message: WAKE UP ALREADY! well just letting u
know I prbly wont reply for a bit cuz HUNTERS COMING OVER! can u
believe it? i hope we can work things out... ill call u later
with wut happened! Oh, no. This isn't good at all.
Hunter's going over to Callie's and he's going to
tell her isn't he? I have to talk to him first.
I quickly threw on some shorts and a t-shirt, brushed my teeth,
threw my hair up in a messy bun, and grabbed a granola bar on my
way out the door. I rushed into Callie's house and saw
Hunters shoes already in the entryway, oh crap!
Hunters POV
Here we go. Time to confess everything to Call. Will she forgive
me? The more important question is: have I forgiven her? I
wasn't sure what the answer to that was yet. Well, here goes
nothing, I thought as I rang the doorbell to her house.
"Hey!" she answered the door with a smile.
"Hi," I replied, forcing a smirk out.
She gtestured for me to come inside so I slipped my shoes off and
followed her upstairs to her room. She took a seat on the floor
against her bed. I sat next to her, a little further away than I
normally would have.
"So, what did you want to talk about?" she asked.
"Our situation," I answered.
"Yeah, about that," she turned to face me and grabbed
my hand, "I am so sorry. It's just... Trent was the
first guy I have ever loved and when he told me that he liked me
again I was just overwhelmed so when he kissed me I was thinking
straight. It all just happened so fast, but I'm so
sorry!"
"Your sorry Isaw you. Not that you did it."
"...sorry... you're right. But I can't stand the
thought of losing you."
"You love him."
"But I love you more!"
"But... you love him..."
She couldn't seem to figure out what she should say next. I
was making her feel worse, but I was just as guilty as she
was.
"Call... there's something I have to tell you," I
said in a very serious tone. This worried her and she immediatly
became more alert. "There's another reason I haven't
been sure about forgiving you..."
Kelly's POV
I took the stairs to Callie's bedroom two at a time and came
to a halt in front of her door. I couldn't just barge in. I
needed an excuse. I heard their mumbled voices and realized
they were talking about Callie and Trent, not Hunter and I yet.
This would buy me some time to come up with something.
I could tell the conversation was starting to shift gears, and
realized my time was up. "Guess what!" I excalimed
as I walked into her room. I pretended to look suprised that
Hunter was there and gave them a sheepish smile. "I'm
sorry, am I interrupting something?"
"Kinda."
"Yes," Hunters tone was almost menacing.
Callie looked at him weirdly, probably wondering why he was being
rude, but let it go, "did you not get my texts?"
"No, sorry, I haven't even glanced at my phone
yet," I said apologetically.
Hunter wasn't buying it and excused himself to go to the
bathroom.
I spoke up as soon as he was gone, "what's going on in
here?"
"We're talking, I think he wants to fix things. I am
kind of worried, though. He was just about to tell me something
really serious..."
"Well, I'll just leave you to that!" I tried to
excuse myself also.
"Wait, what were you going to tell me when you walked
in?" she remembered.
"Oh,
ummmm..."
