chapter
33:
Adam started to walk towards
me,
he was looking at me so intently, with such meaning.
I smiled, moving a piece of hair behind my ear and looking
down, blushing.
He sat down in an empty seat next to me.
He gave me a sweet smile, and looked at the priest who
(I just realized) was speaking.
"Amen." Everyone spoke.
I looked around, lost.
"We will have family speak in about 30 minutes. For now,
relax." I heard the priest say.
A whole bunch of people got up and met up with others across
the room,
and those who were coming in late, too.
My parents got up to talk to some of Noah's friends, and
Emily
was kneeling where I was by the casket.
I felt a hand brush against mine.
Adam and I were practically alone.
We were still sitting in the front row, and no one was around
us.
"Hi." He smiled and broke the silence.
"Hi." I looked down.
"How are you feeling?" His body was turned towards
mine.
"I've been better." I sighed, making quick eye
contact with him.
It was quiet again.
I gained up the courage to speak.
"I'm sorry-" We spoke at the same time.
"You?" We said it together again.
We both laughed, and I noticed his cheeks turn a faint
red.
I smiled.
"You first." I said softly.
"I'm sorry for getting mad. You were right. I
don't understand what you're going through."
He sounded disappointed.
I shook my head.
"Adam, I was wrong. You do understand. I know everything
you've been through,
and ... well you know.. you tried to.. kil-.. I... I'm
sorry."
I looked down and a piece of hair fell infront of my
face.
He picked up my chin,
place the piece of hair gently to the side.
"Don't worry about it. I'm helping you through
this, like you helped me.
And that's all that matters, is if you're
happy." He smiled, looking at me
in the eyes.
We were so close together.
I looked into his eyes perfectly.
I felt so content, so happy, just looking at him,
and knowing he was back at me.
I felt a chill on my hand,
when I noticed his intertwining with mine.
I looked down at his hand as it grabbed mine,
and back up at him.
He was still looking at me, still smiling.
Suddenly there was a tapping sound coming from the
speakers.
"Sorry, didn't know if it was on." My mom
laughed tapping a microphone.
"Okay, we're going to start our speaches. I guess
I'll go first."
She stood in front of the room, grabbing
a piece of wrinkled paper,
and already teared before ready it.
Through both of my parents speaches,
Adam held my hand, and had his arm around me.
He comforted me as I started to cry from
some of the memories my parents mentioned.
He was amazing.
I was stuck in my own world again, when I heard my name was
called.
"Scarlet, your turn." My dad handed me the mic.
"I have to do one?" I whispered.
He nodded.
"B-but I didn't write anythin-"
"Do it." Adam looking at me smiling.
I looked at him, and confidently grabbed the mic from my
dad's hand.
I made my way up to the front of the room.
I cleared my throat,
and braught the microphone to my lips.
