chapter 27:
It was late.
Midnight passed, and it was too early to know the time.
My parents came back with water bottles for each of us.
Noah had woken up from a quick nap.
My mom came over, and put the water bottle to his mouth,
covering his bottom lip from letting the water break lose.
He swallowed hard.
"Thanks." He whispered.
His voice seemed to lose its existense.
He got quiter each time he spoke, and had more trouble.
My mom put the bottle down on the side table, and sat on the couch with my father.
He hugged her, and they teared together.
Emily and I were still on either side of the bed.
Emily was becoming too tired to stay awake.
"What time is it?" She asked me.
There was no clock in the room, or there was and I couldn't find it.
I turned on my phone to check.
As the bright light of the screen blinded me,
I recieved calls, and voicemails, and texts.
I ignored it first, and checked the time.
"3:47." I groaned.
My phone kept vibrating for each message or call I recieved.
"Who's calling you?" Noah asked.
"Oh, no one." I closed my phone, turning it off again, and placed it into my pocket.
"It wasn't no one." He said.
I looked down, knowing he was right.
"Call him." 
"I- can't. I'm with you for the night." I tried to sound happy.
"For the night, and that will be it. Scarlet, don't let go of him, I know how happy you are,
just by the way you look at him."
"I'm not letting go." I said, confused.
"Good. Now, promise me, when I'm gone, to not shut him out because
I left you. Because I'll always be here, even if I'm not actually there."
I looked at my brother, who seemed totally okay with his death approaching.
"Noah, you won't-"
He cut me off.
"Scarlet, I can't hold on any longer, I let this happen, i gotta take the consequence."
I looked over at Emily who started to cry.
He cringed in pain as he tried to move.
His eyes turned red, and watery.
"Emily." He turned his eyes toward her, and only his eyes.
"Yes?" She asked, grasping his hand.
"I love you."
A tear fell down her cheek, leaving a wet line, but she smiled.
And he smiled too.
"And Scar..." He started.
I looked up, silently.
"You're my little sister. I'll always look out for you. I love you little one." He laughed a little.
And at this, I couldn't help but to laugh too.
He held mine and Emily's hands, still smiling at the two of us.
Slowly,
his grip loosened.
And his body fell silent.
