"Perfect" You.

I was the ugly girl in school. I never had any friends. I was freakishly smart, which made people both jealous and disgusted by me. I'm from a rich family, so people think I am snotty. I'm really not. At least, I don't try to be. So one day, I decided it was time for a change. It all started on the last day of ninth grade...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"MACY! C'mon, let's go!" Cady, my older sister, yelled to me from the entrance.
"I'm coming. Gosh. Why do you have to be there so early anyways?" I shuffled out of my bedroom, wearing the ugliest possible outfit ever. It was a really old Snoopy t-shirt, sweatshorts, and Nike sneakers. I could afford nice clothes, I just didn't know what to get.
"Oh. My. God. You are NOT wearing that, are you?" Cady fluffed her curly, blond hair.
Cady is one of the prettiest girls you will ever see. She is tall, lean, and tan. She has the sweetest face, but with her dark smokey eye makeup, she looks hot. Her green eyes always shine like she has a mysterious secret. She wears the cutest clothes that are always bright and eye-catching. Today she was wearing a yellow, flowy, low-cut tank top, dark wash booty-shorts, and brown fringed gladiators. Cady is the exact opposite of me. I have short, dull, brown hair and my eyes are just a dull brown. My face is the same as Cady's, but for some reason, it always looks better on her. Maybe it's because I never use makeup. My body is slim, sorta, but I don't do sports so my muscle level is at a negative three. Not very impressive...
"Uhm.. yeah." I looked down at my sneakers.
"You are an embarassment." Cady turned toward the double doors. "Why do you even want to come with?"
"Well, I thought you could drop me off at the Library. I need to do some research." I picked up my backpack.
"Why? It's the first day of summer!" Cady looked at me like I was an alien.
"I'm doing advanced online classes this summer, you know that," I told Cady.
"For a smart girl, you are really stupid." Cady turned and walked out the door.
I followed Cady to her silver Volvo and opened the passenger's seat. I cringed as I had to sit on her awful zebra printed chair coverings. She is so tacky.
As Cady started singing to some stupid rap song, I opened up my old notebook. As I flipped through the pages, I came across a page of goals I had written back in sixth grade. This is what was written
WHEN I'M SIXTEEN, I WILL:
Be popular.
Have cute clothes.
Have good hair.
Have blond hair.
Have long hair.
Have a cool talent.
Be TAN.
Have friends.
Have a boyfriend.
Wear high heels.
Have good legs.
Be skinny.
Have my driver's license.
Be Perfect.
I just sat there, staring at the paper of things that the sixth-grade me thought was important. I also realized I was none of those things. Even after everything I have accomplished school-wise, I haven't accomplished any goals of my own. Not a single goal. I guess that was the moment I decided it was time to change. To be the "perfect" me.
