Broken
Chapter 10
Two more days, I kept
thinking, two more days. I couldn't just leave him here. I
can't do what I planned on doing all along. Just vanishing,
leaving in the middle of the night. I couldn't. I was
planning on leaving to meet my foster mother, the one that cared
for me for so long. She had made the plans months ago, I was to
leave in two days. Now that I've met Tyler, I can't just
leave. I have to tell him, but if I do then I won't be able
to go. If anyone finds out where I'm going or why then I
won't be able to go. I have to go, I need to see my mom. For
the longest time she was the only thing I had that was remotely
close to family, until Tyler. Man, I knew I shouldn't have
talked to him that one day on the beach, the day we first met. My
thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door, I got up to see
who it was. Tyler.
He waved and yelled through the closed door, "Hey
Liv!"
I opened the door, "Hey Tyler, what's up?"
"Wanna go down to the beach with me and the guys?"
I snuck a look behind him, there they were, Kellan, Jason, Carter
and even Ricky.
I looked at Tyler worriedly and whispered, "Ricky's
here? Do you still want me to come?"
He turned around breifly as if realizing Ricky for the first
time, "Yeah, it'll be fine."
"Alright! Let me grab shoes and my phone and we can
go."
I headed upstairs and put on my teal flip flops, my bug eye
shades and grabbed my phone off the dresser. I ran back down the
stairs and out the door hollering, "Bye Karen! I'm going
to the beach!"
Right as I shut the door I heard a muffled voice yell, "Bye
sweetie! Be back by eleven!"
Then all six of us headed off through the side street towards the
boardwalk. The boys walked up ahead while Tyler and I lagged
behind a little. We talked, but I was barely listening. I was
debating wether or not I should tell him I was leaving. I knew I
shouldn't, but I felt like I had to. Then I remembered that
he knew-subconciously-that he would have to find me some day. I
decided I wouldn't tell him and I would just have a good time
with him and the guys on the beach.
The boys started up a game of volleyball on the beach with
Daniel, who met us at the beach. While they played I tanned with
Daniel's girlfriend, Tori. We talked while we were tanning
and we watched the boys play for a while. Then Tori announced
that she needed an ice mocha and ran off to the coffee shop on
the boardwalk. All the boys decided to take a break and just hang
out for a while. A couple of them ran into the water and splashed
each other. But Ricky walked right over to me.
He sat on the edge of my beach chair, "Hey mystery
girl."
"Ricky," I said a little annoyed, "You already
know my name. Stop calling me mystery girl."
He sneered a little, "Whatever you say, Livvy."
I shot up, and just looked at him. How did he know? He
couldn't know, could he?
I sat there speechless, then he said, "What? Only
Tyler can call you that?"
I just gaped at him, astonished.
"Is there someone else who calls you that?
Someone...Important?"
He was playing me, I could feel it. But that didn't keep the
next comment from turning my blood to ice.
"What'd they do, to get you like this? Give you
away?"
That's when my eyes filled with tears, hopefully he
couldn't see it through my sunglasses.
"Well girly, say something."
I couldn't, I knew if I did I would burst into tears. So
instead I just got up and walked towards the bathrooms. I took no
more than six steps before I started running. Praying that Ricky
wouldn't follow.
