*Whispers in the Dark*
chapter 16 / ♥ / ♥ /
It
took us an hour to get to his house in his car, which he had
left sitting in front of my house. When we finally pulled
into the driveway, I was shocked. This house was nothing like
I’d thought it’d be. The windows, which were very
small, were covered by curtains. The house itself was small.
I guess you don’t need much for a family of four. My
mom is wasting money. Four people live in our house,
it’s not necessary to have 7 bedrooms.
I got out of the car, and met him at the foot of the porch
steps. He grabbed my hand and started up. He realized I
wasn’t moving, so he turned and looked at me.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.”
“It’s okay. They’re older. They have more
experience. If I can refrain from killing anyone, you know
they can.” He smiled, reassuring me. I nodded and let
him pull me into the house.
The house smelled of pizza. Zachariah pulled me into the
kitchen where Kirsten was standing with who I assumed was
Maksim and Ilona. They too had pale colored eyes, which
I’m guessing were just a weakened color of the color
they had when they were human.
“This is Dasha.”
“Hi, Dasha. I’m Maksim. This is Ilona.” She
gave me a sweet smile, but said nothing. Neither approached
me. Kirsten bounded forward, enveloping me in a hug. I
staggered back and the only thing keeping me up was
Zachariah’s hold on my hand.
“Kirsten.” Zachariah hissed. “Be careful.
She’s not made of stone.”
“Right. I’m sorry, Dasha.” She stepped
back, but held me at arm’s length.
My stomach growled
again, and that reminded everyone of what they were
doing.
“I hope you like pizza.” Maksim said.
“That’s pretty much all these two will
eat.” He didn’t mention the blood, but I was
guessing he did that so not to frighten me. But hey! My
boyfriend’s a vampire. It’s something I would
just have to get used to.
“That’s fine, thank you.”
“It won’t be done for a while.” Ilona spoke
up. “Give her a tour of the house Zach.” He
nodded and started pulling me through the rooms. I
yawned.
“You must be tired.”
“No. I’m fine.” He led me to a door off at
the end of the hall way. He opened it and pulled me down a
flight of steps. The room was dark, and I tripped a few
times, but Zachariah kept me standing.
He left me for a second to turn on a few sconce lamps. The
walls were painted black; the floors were red plush carpet.
Against one wall stood a giant entertainment stand with a
giant television. There were several hundred movies there.
Against the other wall was a huge bad. The covers were black
with red stripes.
“Yeah. This is my room.”
