“Brayden, your grades are slipping drastically. Either you
raise the grades, or you don’t play in the upcoming play
offs for hockey.” Mrs. Widley explained to me. My hands
started sweating and all of a sudden I felt like the walls where
going to cave in. Me not playing in the play offs was like a
sandwich without the bread. My team needed me I was considered
the best defensemen on the team. There was no way I would let
them down. “So you’re saying if I get my grades up by
the end of this semester I can play?” I responded back with
a little bit of hope. “Sure thing.” I felt a little
relief once she told me that, but I still didn’t know how I
was going to pull this off. “Thank you Mrs. Widley. I
won’t let you down.” I said picking up my school bag
and my hockey equipment. I reached the door to the office and
opened it as fast as I could, I wanted out of this
place.
“Owe, watch it.” I heard from behind the door. The
door closed behind me. As it shut I found a girl on the floor
holding her head, with books sprawled out on the ground. She was
wearing a flower printed skirt and a plain white tank top. Her
long brown curled hair was in a lose ponytail. “Oh my god,
I am so sorry. Let me get that.” I said picking up an
algebra book. This book got me thinking, she was smart and
beautiful. She would make a good tutor. Right, and if it was
successful, I could play in the play offs. “Don’t
worry about it…hey aren’t you Brayden
Terasse.” She asked so politely. “Why yes I am,
what’s your name?” I felt horrible asking. She knew
who I was, but I had no clue as to who she was.
“Amy.” She pushed her long hair behind her ears.
“I don’t think I’ve seen you around here
before.” I couldn’t stop staring at her; she was
beautiful in every way. “Well I just moved here. My
Dad’s in the army so we tend to move a lot.” I kind
of figured she was new, because I would have remembered that
face.
“Well Amy, I can show you around if you’d like, how
about we start off down town. I can pick you up at seven.”
She smiled as I was finishing my sentence. “Like a
date?” She questioned. “Only if you would like to
consider it one.” I gave her a wink and took my phone out
of my back pocket, she pulled out hers and we exchanged numbers.
“Well see you tonight” I said to her, slipping the
phone back into my pocket. “See you, Brayden.” She
smiled and waved goodbye as she walked off in the opposite
direction. Everything was finally seeming like it was falling
into place.
