The
Mistake.
Chapter 7,
After school, I quickly ran home to see my
dad passed out on the floor,
While my mom was drinking some
vodka.
“Where have you been?” mom said
quickly standing up but she sat down,
I guess she was feeling
lightheaded.
“School” I said running upstairs,
why should she care?
I grabbed a few things and ran back
downstairs. Hopefully Rocco was still in the tree
house.
I banged the door and ran down the road to
the park.
I ran up to the tree house to see someone
grab me by the hood of my sweatshirt.
“Get off” I said pulling my elbow
into their stomach.
“Is this where you were this
morning?” Kelly said examining the tree
house.
“Uh no” I said, probably blushing
because she looked at me and smiled.
“What you hiding?” she said
looking at the steps up towards the tree house,
“Nothing” I muttered “Now
why all of a sudden do you care?”
“I don’t” she said swinging
her phone about, “Anyway I’ll see you
tomorrow”
“Sure” I said waiting for her to
disappear so I couldn’t see her in sight.
My legs quickly ran up the
steps.
“Rocco?” I said crawling to where
I left him this morning.
He wasn’t in there.
I held my knees to my chest and breathed in
the smoke that filled the tree house.
I quickly rushed down to see Rocco cooking
some food near some trees.
“You could have woken me this
morning” he said stirring the food.
“It doesn’t matter” I said
smiling.
“So how was it?” he asked,
looking at me with a quick smile.
“How was what?” my voice
said.
“School” he said
worried.
“Alright” I said smiling,
“Why don’t you go to school?”
“You’ve got to be joking”
he said rubbing his forehead that had sweat.
“Tell me” I said looking at
him.
“I don’t have school” he
said looking at me “School is for
losers”
“So I must be a loser” I snapped
at him.
I stood up and headed down for the door but
it was too late.
Before a group of boys in bandanas came
up.
They looked scary.
