Chapter 25,
*Alec
POV*
That’s right I put my status as
single,
34 likes, I guess I was doing the right
thing.
“Alec, dinners ready” mom shouted
from downstairs.
I logged off the computer and went
downstairs, to see Amanda sat down next to
Grace.
I looked towards her but she looked away, mom
looked at me and smiled.
“So Alec how’s Evie?” mom
asked smiling.
“We split up” I said, it felt
like people were digging into my stomach.
Is this what love felt like when you’re
heartbroken?
“How come?” dad said, poking his
fork into the freshly made beef.
“I don’t think he’ll want
to say” Grace said trying to catch the peas on her
fork.
“Am I in the way?” Amanda said
cutting her potatoes.
“No sweetie, I’m sure Alec will
tell us” mom said nudging me in the
elbow.
“You really want to know mom?” I
snapped “She cheated on me, happy now I confessed, now be
happy”
“Hun I’m sorry” mom said
looking at me; I felt a stabbing pain enter my
heart.
After dinner I went back upstairs, my body
made its way to the box where I built up memories of her and
me.
I threw them in the
trashcan.
I stood up and walked downstairs with the
trashcan in left hand.
I went outside in the back yard and threw
them into the recycling bin.
Amanda and Grace looked at me and rushed
outside.
“A-Alec what are you doing?”
Grace said taking the trashcan out my hand, “What if you
get back with her?”
“I won’t” I said, that
stung me. What if I did get back with her?
I felt like I’ve being eaten alive like
the ground as sucked me into a big black hole.
A hole that only exists in
space.
“Alec, I’m sorry” Amanda
said trying to give out a quick smile.
“Don’t be” I said trying to
smile.
I couldn’t resist not smiling; her
smile was pretty damn cute.
“Who was that person in your room the
other day?” I asked, now I felt like a
stalker.
“What do you mean?” Amanda said
looking at me worried.
“I saw a second shadow in your
room” my voice said lowly.
“My friend Joseph, why?” Amanda
said.
“No reason” I said walking inside
grabbing a cup of water.
I sat on the sofa watching TV with my parents
who was watching some English programme named ‘Secret
Millionaire’.
I felt mom’s eyes staring at me once
and again.
“Mom you don’t need to worry,
I’ve got everything in control” I said trying not to
let my voice break.
“I know sweetie, you’re old
enough to make your own decisions but you know where I am if you
need me” mom said coming over to hug me.
“I know mom” I said giving her a
reassuring smile.
Did I really have everything in
control?
