1
I rolled over in my bed, trying to find a
comfortable position.
The sheets were cold, which sent a shiver up my spine.
I cracked open my eyes, and saw beams of sunlight emerging
through the blinds on my window. Light? The sun was never up
when I woke up for school. I panicked. My mom and dad usually
came to wake me up in the morning. What was going
on?
I sat up in
my bed, and stared at Chloe who was curled up in a ball on
the edge of my bed. She was just waking up too.
“Good morning kitty,” I whispered, almost talking
to myself.
Keeping quiet, I tried to listen and hear if I could hear my
mom and dad getting ready for work. The only thing I could
hear was the sound of Chloe breathing. Other than that,
absolute silence.
I slowly dragged myself out of bed, and tiptoed across the
wooden floor to my parent's bedroom.
On my way there, I noticed a vase on the table next to the
door.
A single black rose sat delicately inside it.
I didn't remember seeing that there before.
Oh well. I stared at the door to my parent's bedroom, and
I thought to myself, “they're probably just still
sleeping. No big deal.”
Holding my breath, I pushed open the door,
praying that I would see my parents lying in their beds.
I let out a loud and insecure scream
when I saw that there was no one in their room,
and their bed was made.
