CHAPTER

Justin's
P.O.V.
I can't remember the last
time I spent a full month away from Kate, but it probably
wasn't the most organized time of my life. Kate's picky
about getting places on time and leaving places on time, so I was
probably late for everything.
"Are you sure you have to go?" Kate asked. She and I
were hugging in the doorway.
"I'm positive. You'll be fine. You have Sarah and
Melanie over here, and you have security..." I don't
believe anything I'm saying, and obviously Kate notices.
"Well, I guess this is goodbye, Bieber." Kate
sighs.
"For now, goodbye for now." I correct. I give her a
quick kiss and wave goodbye.
"I love you!" I call over my shoulder.
"I love you too." Kate says.
I turn the corner and run to the elevator.
The plane ride to New Orleanswas longer than I thought it'd
be. I wished I was back at home the scond I stepped off the
plane.
There were reporters everywhere, taking pictures, asking me
stupid questions, and trying to inch past security.
This happened before, thousands of times, but I'd been away
from it for almost a full week and I could forget anything when
I'm with Kate.
"Justin, we're going this way, buddy." One of the
security guards said.
"You okay, man?"
"Yeah." I said.
The truth was, I wasn't okay. I had no idea where we were
headed, or my schedule...
"Lisa!" I called.
"Uh, we're headed to... um, a meeting with Mr. and Mrs.
Kolverhu." Lisa said. She was my new assistant manager. I
missed Kate. Not that Lisa wasn't doing a great job.
"And then?" I ask.
"Uh... um... We're checking into the hotel." Lisa
said. She always seemed kind of nervous, like she was going to be
pushed over the edge of a building if she didn't say
everything I wanted to hear.
"I can call Kate then, right?" I ask.
"Actually, um, if you, uh, want to talk for more than five
minutes, I'd, uh, um, wait." Lisa stuttered. She pulled
something out of her pocket and put up her hair with it.
"Why is that?" I asked.
Lisa smiled.
"Uh, um, because you, uh, have another meeting right
after." Lisa said. She blushed and looked down.
"Oh. Will you make sure to text Kate and tell her what time
I'll be free to talk?" I ask.
Lisa nods. I smile. This wasn't the same as talking to Kate.
Lisa and I ducked into the limo after Scooter.
"So, Justin, you have everything, right?" Scooter
asked. I checked all my pockets. No phone.
"Scooter." I say. He smiles and tosses it to me.
"If Kate called and I missed it, I blame you." I tell
him.
"Yeah, she'd call in the 50 seconds it took to get off
the plane, turn on your phone, lose it, and walk to the
limo." Scooter said.
I rolled my eyes.
Lisa shifted in her seat, like she was uncomfortable.
"You okay?" I asked. Lisa nodded and smiled, but she
didn't seem okay.
"You sure?" I ask. Another nod.
My phone rang in my lap. It lit up with Kate's name and
played Kate's ringtone.
"Hey." I say.
"Hey." Kate says.
"I'm on my way to a meeting, but I promise I'll call
you back."
"You'd better."
"I will."
"I love you."
"I love you too." The line went dead. I closed my eyes
for a moment and felt a hand on my shoulder. When I opened my
eyes, Lisa was smiling at
me.
