CHAPTER

Justin's
P.O.V.
I had to go back to Kate. I had
to get out of the cabin. So, that's exactly what I did.
I picked up my bags and got into the limo. There was no way
I was going to let Kate's parents stop me from seeing
her.
I told the driver to drive me back down to chicago, and then got
comfy.
After an hour, my phone started ringing.
Linda and Donovan.
"Hello?"
"Justin, where are you?" Linda asked.
"Peru. Eating ice cream with guinea pigs with human
qualities." I say.
"This isn't funny, Justin."
"Really? Because I don't think kicking someone out of
their own house because you can't listen to your own daughter
is funny."
"Justin, our parenting is none of your business."
"Really? Because I thought it became my business three years
ago when you two became my second set of parents. Or maybe one
week ago when I started dating your daughter. Is it my business
yet?"
"Justin, you're being unreasonable and
ridiculous."
"It's unreasonable to want to be with Kate? I love her.
And I would never do anything to hurt her." I want to hang
up, but I'm too stubborn to give up the fight right
there.
"You're just a kid! You don't even know what love is
yet!"
"I think love is when your heart is always empty until your
with that special person. When you wake up, and they're next
to you, and you know that it's just as it's supposed to
be. When you would give anything to be with them. When everyone
around you is making wishes at night, and you don't wish for
anything, because everything you could ever wish for.... you
already have it."
I can hear them on the other end, I know they're still there,
but they don't say anything.
"So, maybe I am just a kid, but I'm pretty sure I know
what love is." And then, I hang up the phone. Nothing they
could possibly say would be enough to change my mind.
Ever.
