Chapter 6:
I
woke up the next morning with a head ache and black mascara
stains on my white pillow case.
Aunt Josephine was in my room putting my clothes into my black
suitcases and humming.
"Good morning, I got a letter from Brenda, she said your
going to live with your aunt and uncle. So you know, just take
a bath and get ready, Brenda will get here at 9:00," Aunt
Josephine said.
"No, I don't want to move." I said plainly.
"Well, I mean I'm not sane enough to raise a
child," she said putting a hand on her heart.
"I have friends here, I can't just give this all up
and move to some new town," I said my voice was tense and
the head ache was turning into a migrane.
"Oh silly, it's a city not a town!" she said
laughing and walking out of my room.
I looked at the the old clock, 8:45 a.m. I had like 15 minutes
to say goodbye and get ready for life in a new city.
I stood awkwardly in front of Austin, I had looked better than
I had ever looked before.
My hair was combed, my face was washed, my clothes fit, my
make-up was fresh and I didn't have a sad look on my
face.
"Well, this is goodbye," I said plastering an
innocent smile on my face.
"Yeah," he said looking down at his feet.
"Well, I gotta go, Brenda's calling me," I
said.
Just as I turned he pulled me back and kissed my lips.
It was passionate, it wasn't long but long enough for
me.
"Please stay," he said his eyebrows knitting
together.
"I can't," I said turning and getting in the back
seat with Brenda.
Did that really just happen?
