Gabe sat on his bed, playing with a
tube of lip gloss that Becca left in his car.
"Gabe! You have a visitor." Krista called
from downstairs. He heard the water turn off in the
shower, meaning Liam was done.
"Be right there." Gabe called down the
stairs. He tossed the lip gloss into a drawer and ran
down the stairs.
A guy about his age with short red hair and dark eyes
was standing around with his hands in his pockets.
"I'm Blake." The guy said. Gabe felt
small and unattractive just standing in the same room
as this guy. Not that Blake was any taller or more
muscular than himself.
"Gabe."
"So, you're dating Becca?" Blake
said. His eyes didn't look aggressive like his body
language.
"Yeah." Gabe said cautiously. He rubbed the
back of his neck. He glanced at Blake's short hair
and shot him a fake smile. Was this the same Blake as
the one in Becca's phone?
"Well, Becca and I have been best friends since the
first grade. I just want you to know that if you hurt
her, I'll get some of my buddies to mess you
up." Blake said. He seemed dead serious.
"So, why are you up here? You live down where
Becca used to, right?" Gabe assumed he
was around to hang out with Becca.
"Oh, her sister asked me to come up and hang. She
also told me about you, so I thought I'd stop
by."
"Oh, how nice of you."
