what i would try to do is talk to him out side of school, just be honest with him let him get to know you mayb hes just shy to make the frist move you gtta be bold, i dont think its good or bad i think its just friendly behavior.

i think its good, it means he's not embarrassed to talk to you infront of friends but prob. just doesn't have much to say when its just you and him. Maybe he is nervous to talk to you alone.
