Over the past few days, Samantha
and the family have been filling me in on my life. They told
me about how I have a boyfriend, Ethan, who is too busy to
visit... me; his apparent girlfriend. I honestly paid no
attention to half the things they said. I paid more attention
to the ceiling than what they had been speaking. I also have
been spending hours admiring ‘the new me’ in the
mirror for the past few mornings. I just can’t deal
with the fact that I am so stunning. I don’t know what
this girl has done to herself, but I honestly don’t
care. I have perfection written all over me now. I just wish
her personality was as attractive as her physical appearance.
She may attract hungry and desperate boys, but definitely
never decent people.
My first day of school begins tomorrow. Usual ‘first
day of school’ only happens after a long holiday. But
in my case? After every accident I’ve endured
and "somewhat" healed. I don’t know why this
keeps happening to me. First days of school are always
the worst days for me. Something always magically
happens and I get eternally embarrassed. The public mockery
never stops.
I have only a day left with peace and to settle in this body.
I have nothing to do right now… mum is out to work
again. She gave me a strict warning not to get out of the
house until tomorrow. She instructed our servants to make
sure I didn’t even get out of my room. Wow, Melanie
lives in a cage… I’d be a depressed mental
kid if my real dad trapped Eowyn in a cage.
Eowyn
would have been a useless, desperate wreck that has never
seen the sight of beautiful daylight and open air. I
can’t imagine that.
I looked around my “new” room. The walls were
golden and white stripes. The curtains were a deep bloody red
that complimented the bright colors of the walls. The
furniture were made of a high quality mahogany wood. Super
impressive, much? The perfectly wooded flooring went well
with the intricately designed carpet which apparently, had
Melanie’s name sown into. “I’ve never seen
anything quite like this! It’s incredible!” I
said to myself as I noticed a piece of paper sticking out
from it. Curious, I tried to pull it off, just to realize it
was attached to the carpet. On it was written:
“$7,865
Name of product: Arabian Designer Carpet
Specially made for Ms. Melanie Abergine
Contact: xxx-xxx-xxxx or xxx-xxx-xxxx
Address: Shamalamalalala Street,
Badabing
55555, UAE”
Wow. That just made me realize how truly rich these
people are… I mean, I understood that they were super
rich enough to buy two houses and four vacation homes all
around the world… But seriously, designer carpets?! Is
that even necessary for a 17-year-old teenage girl? You can
probably buy a car with that money! But I don’t think
they’d need that to buy another car. This house has
like… a car for everyone. Even the 15 year old cousin
of Melanie’s who can’t even drive. God, this is
madness! Eowyn got her car at a secondhand store. And she
had to bargain like hell to get it at $2,000. She had to work
a whole year with two jobs to pay that off. Not to mention,
she had other important things to pay off while she was at
it. Like the neighbor’s garage that she destroyed when
she ran into it on 15th January, 2011.

Note: There is no such place as
Shamalamalalala Street, Badabing, 55555,
UAE.
However there is such a place as UAE. And, as far as I know,
they're great at making beautiful
carpets!
