"Tara, honey? We're going to go
visit your grandma for a while. We won't be back until
around 9:00 tonight. Is that alright dear?" my parents
asked.
"Yeah, Mom, I'll be fine here. I'll just go
over to Gage's for a while." I called.
"Please come downstairs for a minute."
I trudged downstairs, preparing myself for another
discouraging talk about my relationship.
"Yes?"
"You know we don't want you two together. We just
don't feel that it's right yet. You know that
neither of us approve of this relationship and you're
still so young. You either stay here at home until we come
back or you're coming with us for the day," they
said sternly.
"I'M 17 YEARS OLD. I'M NOT A BABY ANYMORE!
Just leave me here. I don't want to come with
you," I told them.
"You better be here when we get back, or you'll
have to suffer the consequences."
I ran upstairs, back into my room. I sat on my bed until I
heard the front door close and watched the car pull out of
the driveway and drive away. As soon as I knew my parents
were gone, I picked up my cell phone, and dialed Gage's
number. After a few rings, he picked up.
"Hey! Do you need anything?" Gage answered.
"Just to see you. Are your parents home too? I just
don't want more parents yelling at me about us," I
complained.
"They're not here either. They'll get over it
sometime, hopefully. Come over for a while?"
"Of course, baby. I'll see you soon. I love
you," I told him.
"I love you, too."
"Tell me, what's the
definition of
love?"
