Aaron's POV
We
must have been hiding in that ally for at least 10 more
minutes. I mean, it probably would have been safe after 5,
but we weren’t taking the risk.
I found out the girl I saved name
is Ali. I moved in down the block from her about 3 months
ago, and have seen her a couple times, but never spoke to
her. I’d noticed how beautiful she was, and how sweet
she seemed. But the whole time I was noticing these things,
I knew I could never even be friends with her. My parents
had insisted I went to private school, and if the kids
there ever spotted me hanging out with a public school
girl, they’d destroy me, and her.
And before, when I’d heard that screaming and spotted
Ryan and the other guy’s trucks outside
the Brookes house, my heart had stopped. I had dropped
my dog, Met’s, collar, and ran in without a second
thought. And thank god I had. And now, I cared so much
about this random girl from down the block, cared enough
that I’d do anything to just keep her safe, and I
don’t even know her last name. I had to be losing my
mind.
“I think we’re safe to
go.” I said, and walked out of the ally, Ali
following, letting out a sigh of relief. “Thank you,
so much, for everything.” She said, and smiled at me,
and I looked into those big blue eyes of hers, and I felt
happy again, for the first time in a really long
while.
“So, where are you
from?” Ali asked me, and I decided to do everything I
could to avoid mentioning that I go to her public
schools rival private school.
“I actually live right down
the block from your house.” I said, as we started
walking. She looked up at me, obviously
surprised.
“Really? Then how come I
haven’t seen you at school?” She asked. So much
for not mentioning our schools. I should have known it was
inevitable.
“Um… well I actually
go to priavte school…” I said, trying not to
look Ali in the eye.
“You go to Eastwood?
She asked, sort of spatting the last word. I nodded
guiltily. I knew we were horrible to her school, Fair Lake
High School. I knew we were the bad guys, and they just
fought bak because they had to, and they never pulled
anything half as bad as we did.
“Oh…um, Aaron?”
She said, looking up at me. “Yeah?” I asked
her.
“Where are we going? I can’t go home, my
parents won’t be home for hours. Who knows what Jack
will do.” She said, and I noticed something in the
lawn in front of us, and chuckled.
“I don’t think
we’ll have to be worrying about Jack tonight.”
I said, gesturing to the group of sleeping men, passed out
on the grass. Ali laughed quietly, but even in the dark of
the night, I could see the pain in her eyes. I placed my
hand on her shoulder and said, “Ali. It’s going
to be okay. I promise, I’ll keep you safe. I know you
don’t even know me, and I’m an EastWood, but
you have to trust me. I’m here to help you now, and
I’m not going anywhere. I’m too
invested.” I said, and smiled at her. She smiled
back, and blushed as I put a piece of her beautiful blonde
hair behind her ear. I took her chin gently in my hands,
and raised her head, and leaned in to kiss her. I felt her
come closer too, and her lips brushed mine, and just when I
was about to really kiss her, she turned her head and I
opened my eyes to see her grinning at me. “Goodnight
Aaron.” She said with a smile, and she turned on her
heel and walked back toward her house. I just stood there
looking like an idiot, staring at the perfect girl that
I’d almost just
kissed.
