part fifteen

Crying became a normal thing for the next few days. I eventually told all my friends and they wanted to kill Brandon for it, but I made them promise not to. He might have a valid excuse, but I wasn't ready to listen to it. I avoided him at school, taking diferent routes through the crowded hallways, I ignored all his texts and calls too. I just needed some time to think. Was keeping Brandon around really worth all of this pain? I didn't know, but what I did know, is that he better kick Sarah out of his life, or I will kick him out of mine.

After a few more days I couldn't stand not talking to him anymore. He must've felt it too because I got a text from him when I got home from school.

It made me feel better to know that he missed me too. Afterall, I wasn't the one going around kissing other people. He was. So he deserved to feel rejected, unwanted, ignored, and he especially deserved to feel as hurt as I was.

I threw on a cute romper and flip flops and ran out the door. I could almost taste summer, it was so close. During the short walk to the park I wondered how this whole thing would go down. What would he say to me? What should I say to him? Should I break up with him? After everything, could it really be over for good? I prayed that wouldn't be the answer.

My thoughts kept running wild to the most extreme scenerios, most of which ended up with me being heartbroken, until I arrived at the park.

Brandon looked up and smiled, "Hey."

I wasn't sure if I should be happy or upset. "H-h-h-hi." I stammered.

"The swings?" He nodded toward the swings where our relationship started and almost ended a few times.

As time went by things got less awkward. He explained the whole Sarah thing. Apparently he was walking home "and she just ran up to me, practically attacked me, kissed me, and took a picture of it!" Brandon swore he would never kiss her, but hasn't he said that before?

"Please, Taylor, you have to believe me. I can't loose you because of Sarah again. Don't let her ruin us. That's her motive."

I looked down. He was true, that was all she wanted, but what if he wanted it to? Would Brandon go that low? I sighed. "Fine. I trust you, more than her. I love you, Brandon. But please promise me that this will never happen again. Ever."

He stood up, walked closer to my swing, bent down and whispered, "I promise" as he leaned in to kiss me.

That's when I knew I couldn't live without Brandon. It would be like a fish living without water. It's just impossible.
