DRAMATIZED
Chapter 1

"Alexia! The curtains open in twenty
seconds!! Get out here!!", Shayenne's voice sounded
muffled through my dressing room door. I sighed. In fifteen
seconds, I would be onstage, surrounded by adoring fans,
photographers, and the occasional sweaty,wannabe background dancer.
Ugh.
"Shut up!", I screamed, slamming my
Dior mascara wand back into its little silver tube. Gawd, would she
just lay off?! Standing up, I smoothed out my golden silk
minidress, checking for wrinkles or the occasional panty line.
Nope, I looked fabulous. As Usual.
I reached for the solid gold doorknob, shoving the
porcelain-colored door open, sending Shayenne flying across the
hallway in the process. "Five seconds", the frazzled
stage manager yelped, in a heap against the back wall. Waving her
off, I stomped to my spot behind the thick, black velvet
curtains.
I took a look in the wide, rectangular mirror hanging from the
wall. My sapphire-colored eyes sparkled and blonde hair cascaded
down my satin-covered back in thick,pretty, tendrils. My makeup had
been applied with the skill of an artist. "I'm hot.",
I whispered, smirking.
The curtains swung open right on cue. I rushed onstage, temporarily
blinded by the flash of the spotlight. I immediately adjusted,
loving the way the spotlight's warmth felt. "All of a
sudden I seeee..", I belted in my beautiful soprano voice.
The crowd roared in excitement. Beaming, I breezed through the rest
of the opening song without a problem. I couldn't have a
problem. After all, I was cast in PROMISCUOUS, the new broadway
musical about 1920's flappers, where you were reminded
constantly how lucky you were to be a part of it. Yeah
Right, I thought, Like they would fire me.
