One Secret Too Many

Tyler
I drove to the school
in the crappy car my dad left for me. But that didn't matter
to me, because I know that I was going to see Lexi again
today. I shouldn't get excited about that, I mean she has a
boyfriend. She's not interested in me at all. Even though I
knew that, I still couldn't get her out of my mind.
I pulled into the
first open parking spot I could find and got out. Here goes
nothing. I walked towards the school, looking around at my new
classmates, and also looking for Lexi. I found her, and started
to walk towards her. Then a big guy came up behind her and hugged
her. I started to run when I heard Lexi scream, but stopped when
I saw her smile. This guy must be her boyfriend, the same one she
was with at Staples a couple days ago.
Jealousy burned
through my veins. I had no place to be jealous, but I
couldn't help it. I stood, frozen, as I watched her hug this
guy. I started to walk again, but kept my eyes on Lexi. I bumped
into someone, and turned my eyes to them instead. It was a guy,
about my height, with curly brown hair and brown eyes. He
immediately apologized, and I told him not to worry about it and
that it was my fault.
I smiled to reassure
him that it was fine, and he tentatively smiled back. This guy
seemed really shy. He finally said, "Hey are you new around
here? I haven't seen you before."
I sighed, "Yeah
I'm new. I just moved from California a couple weeks
ago."
"You should try
out for football, you look like you could run really fast to be a
reciever."
"Oh yeah, I love
football. Maybe I will. Do you play?" I asked.
"Yeah I do, and I know
we're really lacking some good players. I hope to see you
there!" He said with a smile.
"I'll
come!" I said, and with that he walked off. I then
remembered Lexi, and looked just in time to see her kiss that guy
on the cheek. I wanted to punch something really badly, but now
wasn't the time. I stormed off to find my homeroom. I found
it, walked in, and sat down.
A few seconds later,
Lexi walked through the door, and I felt an urge to run up and
hug her, but obviously I couldn't because of her boyfriend.
Thinking of her boyfriend made me go cold.
Lexi sat down next to
me and smiled. "Hey!" She said.
I stared at her for a
second, fighting an urge to either confront her about her
boyfriend or to let it go and try my best not to kiss her right
that second. I decided on the second option, and said,
"Hi," with much restrain. I then turned to the front
because I was so afraid of what I might do if I look into her
eyes.
She turned to the front,
too. I could tell she was hurt, but I didn't know what else I
could do. I sat through homeroom in silence, and as soon as the
bell rang I got out of there as fast as I could to avoid awkward
conversation about how I just treated her. This year might be
tough.
