By now the bus was full of loud
girl and guys. Everyone was hugging and asking about everyone
else's summers. If I had know anyone I would of had a LOT
to say. This summer I moved from Alaska to California with my mom.
Mom had gotten married, and I now lived with him and his son Jake.
The bus slowly pulled up the drop off lane. I got butterflies in my
stomach and my heart beat in my ears. The bus pulled to a stop. All
I saw was 2000 kids laughing kissing, talking and going about their
merry ways. Jake and his friends started grabbing their backpacks,
I followed suit grabbing mine and standing up. Jake told him to
come with him and meet some of the other guys he knows.
We stepped off the bus and weaved through a mass of
people.
"Hey Ava, what class do you have first?" Matt asked
sweetly.
I thought for a second then said I had Mr. Right's
homeroom.
"No way!" he blurted, "Me too!"
I smiled to my self thinking that maybe this school wouldn't be
so bad.
We arrived at the group of Jake's other friends. I introduced
myself as his step sister Ava. They were all welcoming and
friendly. A bell rang and everyone started moving and I attempted
to find my first class.
Finding the right room I slip in to see an almost completely empty
room. I pick a desk in the middle back of the room. Matt soon
follows after and picks the seat behind me. While I get my binder
out he begin playing with my hair. I laugh and turn to look at him.
He looks around the room aimlessly and starts to whistle like he
was doing nothing. I giggle again "Were you playing with my
hair?"
"Me, psh no never!"
The bell rings again as a flood of kids come into the room and
sit.
After that class I pack up and continue going to classes until
lunch.
I look around for any sign of Matt of Jake. Someone pinches my
sides scaring me and making me squeal. I turn to see Jake and his
guy friends waiting for me to follow them. As I walk with them I
get jealous looks from most the girls in the cafeteria. I also see
guys looking at my odd outfit and weirdly to me, my butt. I get
kind of confused but I stay with Jake. we walk out of the cafeteria
and go out onto the lawn. As we walk heads turn to watch us. Many
people look surprised to see a girl with the group. When we get to
where the lawn is the nicest we all sit down. I ask oddly "Are
you guys, like popular or something?"
"Sort of Ava. We are what you call the "hot" group
here on campus." says one of the guys.
"Is it weird to see a girl with all of you?"
"We usually fly solo, by choice."
"Ohh... I see!"
Everyone starts eating and laughing. Matt walks over and sits next
to me, he's really sweet. "Hey Ava!" he says with a
smile.
"Hii!"
"Hey, so like can I have your number or something?" he
asks lowering his voice so Jake doesn't hear.
"Ya, I don't see why not!" I then grab a piece of
paper and write it down. He takes it and stuffs it into his
pocket.
Just then an amazing looking guy walks in front of me and fist
bumps Matt.
"Who is that?" I ask still stunned.
"Oh, that's Sam, he's pretty much out star soccer
player."
"Nicee!"
"Do you play soccer?"
"Yep, since I was like 4!"
"I'm the captain of the Varsity soccer team."
"That's cool!"
He then leaned closer to me and put his arm behind me on the grass
as though he was going to put his arm around me.
*RING*
Everyone got up from the grass throwing away their trash.
I walked with Matt to my next class. He waved bye and I walked into
my next class.
