Untitled #3

Our coach greets us and tells us that we are doing distance all week . He splits us up by ability and tells my group, which consists of Jackie, who runs a 18 min. 3.1 mile, Amanda who runs a 18.2 minute 3.1 mile and myself. I run a 18.5 minute 3.1 mile so far. We are to run with the boys and do 7.5 miles. The rest of the team gets their assignments and we head out of the school to meet the boys. I know most of them so we all say high and catch up until warm ups and strength training starts. The coaches tell us to start. We do high knees, butt kicks, A skip, Fast feet, and all of our other drills. When we finish strength training we are informed that the boys got a new team member, a freshman from California. Sound familiar, Yeah its Luke. After introductions we start our run. Like always the first few steps are hard, but that’s expected. I set my pace with ease and start talking to Jackie and Amanda. We are supposed to run slow so we run 7.5 minute miles. “ So, Jackie, are you ready to go to states this year” I ask. Jackie is the fastest runner on our team. “No, I am not fast enough to even get close to states” she says. “ Your lack of confidence it annoying” says Amanda. We all laugh at that. I notice that we have a trailer, which it someone who runs right on your butt and doesn’t give you any space. I look back and see Luke. I nod to Jackie and Amanda and we quicken our pace. So does he.  I am getting annoyed by the 3^rd mile so I ask him to back off. “Could you please give us space. If we’re running to slow for you then pass us. “ I call back to him. “ oh no I am fine.” He says. “ We have a certain thing called runners edicit here, that means pass or back off. I am not in the mood to deal with hormonal freshman boys.” Screams Amanda. We all snicker at her comment and Luke backs off entirely. “I will have to remember to call you when he annoys me again. He’s in every one of my classes.” I say. Amanda and Jackie give me that pity look. We continue running and we catch up with the rival team. We are all good friends so i dont know why the call us rivals but we are. I see Josh and run up to him. He doesnt notice me at first so i tap him on the shoulder and he jumps. He is very easily scared, its kinda funny.
