If We Ever Meet Again
(part 25, other parts are on my
profile.)
Ocean City, MD.
June 19
"You know, I'm not one for surprises." I said after
he drove a bit.
It was dark outside but traffic lights and headlights filled the
night. My thoughts were subsided when my stomach started growling.
I'm starving; I hope this surprise involves dinner of some
sort. There were cars everywhere, one the streets, in parking lots,
and at gas stations. Tye seemed to be driving a little faster then
normal but I didn't mind. I turned to look at Tye, he looked
like he was concentrating a lot on something, and I doubt in was
driving. Just as I was about to look away, he turned and looked at
me. He seemed more relaxed and smiled at me. I smiled back.
"Any idea where you're taking me?" I asked
hopefully.
"If I told you, I'd have to kill you." He said
smoothly.
I stopped asking questions and wondering and turned on the radio. I
looked at the window, and nothing looked familiar. Were we in Ocean
City anymore? The places we were flying by looked so elegant and
well, rich. Where was he taking me? The thoughts came back, and
stopped just as quickly.
"We're here." He said breathlessly.
Here? This is where he was taking me? A development with houses
that were probably worth millions of dollars. This must be joke,
right? Tye got out of the car, and in what felt like a second,
opening my door.
"Here? What is exactly here and where?" I asked getting
out of the car, and sliding my hand through my hair. He didn't
answer me, just took my hand and was starting walking me to the
most beautiful house I've been to in my life. The house was 4
stories high and very, very long. So in easier terms, this house is
mansion like, even not a mansion itself. The front of the house was
scattered with dark colored rocks, and a flower garden with very
bright colors. The house was lit with lion statues with bright
lights attached.
As he escorted me into the house, I tried one last time to get an
answer out of him.
"Who lives here? And why are we here?" I whispered,
putting myself closer to Tye.
"My parents." He said shortly.
He intertwined my hand with his and led me into the second room on
the left, the kitchen. The aroma of vanilla filled the gigantic
house. I thought I'd see a chief or something slaving away but
instead I saw an elegant looking woman with a peaceful face and
strong bone structure. She looked like she could have been a model
in here day, if not a model now, or Macy's or something along
those lines. She was wearing a silky white shirt and a gray skirt.
Very classy.
I felt so out of place, with my shorts, tank top, and old navy flip
flops.
"Ahh. You must be Allie." She said as a statement, not a
question.
I smiled weakly. "And you're Tye's mom?" I asked,
this time it was a question. "Your house is, uh,
amazing."
"Where's dad?" Tye asked letting go of my hand, and
putting it around my waste.
"He should be in the study. We're having ham for dinner, I
hope that’s okay." She said with a photo shot smile on
her face.
"Yes, I'm starving."
Tye and I walked out in the hallways, and up the stairs. I stopped
him at the top of the steps. He gave me a questioning look. I
couldn't help but smile at him, even if I wanted to ring his
neck right now. I sighed and sat myself down on the top step. He
did the same.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked hoping my
frustration wouldn't show.
"Tell you what?" He looked genuinely confused, like he
had no idea what I was asking.
"This life, your house, your mom, everything." I sighed,
"You told me you lived with your aunt."
He just shrugged.
"You lied, why?"
He let his head fall down, so he was looking at his chest. He
grabbed my hand again.
"I didn't want to lie to you, honest. But I didn't
want to flaunt my parent's wealth, or for you to be into me
because of what my parent's have." He put emphases on
'parent's'. I guess I understand why he didn't tell
me, but it's not like I'm that kind of person.
He finally lifted his head. I looked him in the eye, big green
eyes. I saw passion, confusion, and helplessness. With Tye's
tough exterior you would have never expected that. I could tell
that he didn't want to lie, and my frustration for this whole
ordeal ended. I had nothing else to say to him, and I didn't
think he wanted to explain anymore. He never looked away from my
stare, until his lips finally met mine.
