I
once knew a girl
who was best friends with this boy. and i
mean best friends.
as in whenever they were together, they were basically
attached
at the hip. now, neither of them were very popular. sure,
people
knew who they were and their classmates liked them, but
they
didn't even know half of their grade. and they were alright
with
that. because they didn't need their entire grade. all they
really
needed was each other. they weren't much alike though. he
played
soccer, she loved baseball. his eyes were the bluest blue in
creation,
hers were pools of melted milk chocolate. he had this messy
brown
hair the color of dirt, she had long waves of
strawberry-blonde. he
loved the Mets, she was die-hard for the Yankees. he loved
animals,
she had a severe phobia of dogs and cats. but their differences
didn't
stop the friendship. heck, it probably strengthened it. those
two had
something special. and i know this for a fact. because one day,
in
bio, i looked behind my back at the two friends. they were
whispering
to each other and smiling. seeing this reminded me of how
classmates
constantly accused the two of having crushes on each other. but
they
didn't, obviously. anyway, one the boy must have said a
joke,
because the girl began to laugh. and seeing his best friend
laugh caused
the boy to laugh. and at that moment, i felt as warmth was
giving my
heart a hug. and i'm pretty sure everyone else in the room felt
the same
way. that's when i realized that love isn't your boyfriend
giving you
his hoodie, or calling you just to say i love you, or being the
prince
charming to your cinderella. love was something
different.
it was them - they were love.
