(Chapter forty-six)
Cody's P.OV.
Erika slurped up some lo mein with her chopsticks. "I haven't had Chinese in forever." I admitted. "Why?" she asked as she continued to eat. "I don't know. I was sure missing out." I said as I stabbed my chicken with a fork. My phone started ringing, "Sorry. It's my manager."
" Yoooooo." I said while chewing. "Cody! Where are you? You have a concert in 2 days!" he bellowed into the phone. "Oh, I-i forgot." I stammered. "Where are you?" he said angrily.
"Uh, in Boston?" I said my voice quivering. "Well get back NOW." he said, emphasizing now. "But Erika's brothers funereal is tomorrow." Erika looked at me with sad eyes. "Cody, do what you have to do. I am fine." she tried to reassure. I shook my head, "Cody, do you want to disappoint your fans?" he asked. "N-no. I will come back after the funereal." I said trying to compromise. "Okay, I will book you a flight. Rehearsal right when you get back." he said as he hung up. "Erika, I am sorry." I said. She shook her head as she ate her chicken. "It's okay, I will just be here for one extra night. Then I will be back with you. Thank you for staying for the funereal." she said giving me a fake smile. "I would never leave you alone for that." I reassured as I ate my noodles. We finished our Chinese and went to get ready for bed. She came back out and layed down on her bed. "Come over here." I suggested. "Nooooo, come here." she whined. I laughed and went over to her bed and layed down next to her. She nestled her head on to my chest and I put my arm around her. All of a sudden, she started balling her eyes out on to me. "What's wrong babe?" I asked. "It just hurts so bad. I can't take it." she said between tears. "I know, I know." I said holding her close. She wiped her tears with her long sleeve and sniffled. "Why did it have to happen to him? Why?" she said as she broke down crying. After crying for awhile she calmed down and went to splash water on her face. "Sorry about that." she whispered. "There's nothing to be sorry about." I said sincerely. "Lets watch a movie or something." she suggested. We were looking through the movies when there was a knock on the door. I got up and answered it and let her mom in.
