Girl:
I stood there facing him in the hall. Everything I'd ever wanted had been right in front of me but as I looked at him now I knew things had changed. I choked back tears as I watched him spin his pen on his thumb, the habit he took up when he was nervous. His head was cocked slightly to the left and his blue eyes pierced through me. I looked away to avoid his gaze. "This is it," I whispered. Still he stood not speaking. I met his eyes again, angered by his silence. I was surprised by the look of intensity on his face and backed away, my heart shattering. Turning slowly, I walked away, taking all of my strength not to turn around. I took a seat on the bus and starred blankly out the window, my ipod already filling my ears. Somehow I knew that I couldn't let him go.
Boy:
I wasn't aware of the people around us as I looked at her. She was all I needed but I knew I had messed up. I watched as she tugged at her neclace. It was a motion I had come to know so well and her fingers twisted around the chain. Her hair was falling into her face but she didn't shake it away as I drank in her sight. She lowered her head. "This is it," I heard her say, but the words seemed to be far away. I couldn't talk for fear of breaking down. When she looked up again I saw the fire in her eyes I loved so much. Her face softened but she backed away anyway. She began to walk away and I willed her to turn around with no success. When she was gone something snapped and I knew what I had to do. I dropped my backpack to the ground and took off running after her. Somehow I knew I wouldn't let her go.
