There are two sides to every story
First Dates
Girl:
I nervously picked at the frayed end of my jean shorts and tried to focus on the TV in front of me. Some romantic comedy, which usually I enjoyed, but I was having issues focusing. I was more concerned with the blue eyed guy sitting next to me. Goodness, why did first dates have to be so awkward? Here I was finally thinking that we could be something really special and the boy hadn't even tried to hold my hand, no, he hadn't even looked at me. Did I smell? I turned my head stealthily to the side. Nope. I sighed and glanced over. He was looking right back at me. I quickly shifted my gaze to the movie again, looking at him out of the corner of my eye. This was not going as planned. Maybe he didn't like me. Maybe he meant to ask a different girl on a date and asked me by mistake. That would be my luck. My head began to fill with irrational thoughts and all hope of following the plot of the movie was lost. "Hey," he said poking my in the side and startling me so i jumped. "I don't want to sound like a jerk or too forward or anything." he paused and I braced myself for the worst. He continued,"But, uhm, I like you." And it was in his smile that I knew this was the truth.
Boy:
I twisted the television remote in my hands as the events of someone elses live unfolded on the screen in front of me. Personally, this kind of movie was not a preferance of mine but I'd chose it anyway. More for the blue eyed girl sitting next to me then anything else. She was perfect but as soon as we were alone together i froze up. Just hold her hand, dammit. My finger twitched but that was as close to her slender hands as i got. Quit being a loser and act like you know what the hell you're doing, I told myself. I turned to face her, planning to say something, anything but she was looking at me and the intensity of the moment caught me off guard. I didn't understand why I couldn't be like my buddies and just use a girl, no strings attached. I snuck a look at her again and knew that was impossible. I knew that whatever this was, it deffinately had strings and as much as I didn't want to admit it I liked it. I liked her. Without thinking I reached over and poked her in the side. She jumped and I smiled because she was perfect. The words were spilling out of my mouth before i could stop them. I heard myself say,"I like you." Crap. That was stupid. No girl in their right mind would respond to that line. Her smile though, made me think differently.
