His name is Cody, I met him when my ex dumped me one morning in the hall just before the bell rang for school. He gave me his shoulder to cry on as we ditched school that day. It felt wrong, Cody was my ex's best friend. He didn't seem to care that it could potently ruin his friendship, though. He talked me through the break up and told me that Andy had actually been planning on breaking up with me for over two months. Everything Andy "felt" and was telling me for at least two months was a lie. I was so hurt. But it seemed really easy to get over. Cody became my best friend. I was hurt when I found out he never told me about his girlfriend. But I accepted it and best friends is all we were. No one expected me to be friends with him. He was not someone I would usually be friends with; for I'm really girly and he's well, he's a boy. He gets into a lot of trouble and has an attitude of not caring. He is also an outcast in our school, mind you, we go to school in a hick town, but he was the hick-est person in that school. But what others don't know about him is that he has a sensitive side, a side only I have seen. So he still came off as an a55hole at first. Yet, somehow we became friends. He and his girlfriend were having some problems. I tried my best to help him through and be there for him like he was there for me. But she finally just ended it.
Everything between he and I stayed the same. He was like a big brother to me. He always had my back, and made sure no one messed with me. In the spring I started to fall for him. And everyone could tell. I didn't care. Cody finally asked me out on a date. He told me to pick a movie, We went to see The Lucky One. (: And after he dropped me off that night, he kissed me. It was short and sweet. I thought about it as I laid in bed that night. Praying to God that the kiss meant something to him too. The next week in school went by, and he started to avoid me. We still texted but he didn't talk to me in person. I knew that something had gone wrong on that date. I texted his friend Cameron asking if he knew what was up with Cody, he told me that he was still obsessing over me. I was confused as to why he was avoiding me then. By the end of the week I shrugged it all off and acted like the kiss meant nothing and that he and I would just stay friends.
The following Monday at school, Cameron came up to me and had a huge smile on his face, he asked me, "Did he ask you yet?!" Confused, I said no, and asked what he was talking about. He just walked away. About an hour later, during class I got a text from Cody, "Meet me at Korner Mart after school"
When I got there I got out of my car and walked over by him, I realized what was happening. I tried to hide my smile and excitement, and he was scared to ask me. His exact words were, "Will you go out with?.." I looked at him and said, "Is this you asking me to be your girlfriend?" He said yes, I smiled at him and said yes.
5/21/2012 we stated dating. And most relationships start out awkward, if you ask me anyway. But ours didn't. We were best friends and we acted the same way. Everyone in school just said finally and were happy for us. The summer together was amazing too. We spent a lot of time together. But also gave each other space because we had other people to see as well. Neither of us thought it would last throughout the whole summer. But it did. For Christmas he gave me a promise ring, and I strongly believe in my heart that this will last forever. <3
We have no been dating for just a little over a year. I have never had such strong feelings for someone before. And I find it amazing how, a lot of couples have fights and call it quits, and then get back together a day or so later. Never with us. If we fight, we fight, but we have never broken up. We fix it right away. There isn't a day that goes by when he doesn't remind me how much he loves me, and tells me how beautiful I am. Our parents see a future for us. A future together that last forever. I wouldn't change a thing about my redneck boyfriend. I truly love him for him. And I always will.
