Chapter One: The Meeting
"Princess Yuri! Wake up!" a voice croaked in alarm.
I simply groaned and flipped to the other side of the bed, and threw the cotton covers over my head; gripping it tightly so I wouldn't be disturbed again.
"Princess Yuri! You have to wake up!" the voice cracked with more urgency.
I groaned once more. Flipping the covers off my head, I sat up straight, rubbing my eyes in confusion. What could have possibly happened to wake me up so early?
"Yuri, you have to relocate," the voice became more fimilar. It was Mother's.
"Only me? Not you? Or Father, "I stammered as a thousand thoughts made their way to my mind.
"Yes," she muttered,"But it is for your on good, so you have to leave."
"Will I ever see you again?" I blurted out.
There was no answer. I was furious; I was leaving, possibly never seeing my family ever again, and I couldn't even meet the rest of my family to bid good-byes. Instead, I am hastily woken up from bed to go somewhere-the reason why-I have no idea, and have to risk the possibility of never seeing the most important people in my life.
"But-" before I could speak again Mother took me by the hand and dragged me to the back door of my bedroom, which was only used durring emergencies. Without thinking, she pushed the door open and dragged me into a poorly kept alley. Swiftly, she pushed her and myself behind the garbage can, so we couldn't be seen.
What could be the possible reason for bringing me here? No one knows. Well, at least I have no idea. It most,though, have to do with the fact of our family being in danger. My Mother will never act so hastily unless someone's life was in danger. Instead, she usually takes precission and is very judicious.
An enormous explosion of pink, purple, and red had spread. I squinted my eyes for a closer look. In the middle of the thick clouds, layed a blackish-red ball of energy that raidiated light of some sort. The thick clouds spiraled around the orb of energy, giving off a weird chemical.
"Oh no," Mother whispered urgently,"It's time for you to leave, Yuri."
"But-" I counldn't leave my own mother stranded like this, could I? But I was cut off by Mother before I could protest.
"Just leave without me," Mother screamed as her eyes filled up with tears,"Your life is more important than mine!"
I shocked. What did she mean by 'her life was less important than mine'? Her life is just as important as mine; am I something special? No. I wouldn't be here without my mom and there is no way I am leaving without her.
"Go," she mouthed as she handed a crystal bracelet embedded with pink gems,"Keep this with you. Go to the Metro."
For her sake I left. Even though, I wanted to stay with her and help her. I still didn't understand what was happening or why it was happening. All I know is I have to make it to the Metro-it's a life or death matter. Fortunately, I knew where the Metro was, otherwise I would be lost.
