Stay Beautiful Chapter 7
“So, Chris. What are you doing tonight?” I asked, skipping over to him, and sitting in the chair next to him. “Not that I know of,” he said, not looking up from the paper he was working on. “Why?” he asked, putting his pencil down and looking at me. Oh, those eyes. “Oh, uh, well there’s a big game tonight, and after that is a prom. And I was wondering if you wanted to go with me,” I stuttered, getting out of the daze. He was quiet. “Why... me?” he asked. “You’re a cheerleader. You’re apparently popular. You’re loud. We’re exact opposites,” he continued. “You don’t know that. Yeah I’m a cheerleader. Yeah, I’m popular. Yeah, I’m loud. But who cares? That’s just 3 things and there’s more to me than meets the eye,” I said, getting closer to him. “Please,” I whispered. “Break it up!” Mr. Damon yelled. We separated and I looked down. I got a piece of paper and wrote down “Please?” on it, folded it up, and put it in front of him. He opened it and looked at me. I smiled. He laughed and wrote back. “Of course,” it read. Yes, I thought. Outside, I was calm. Inside, there was a party. The rest of school went by fast. I gave Chris my number, then me and Nataly walked home. When I went home, my mom and Audrey weren’t there, which was weird. I took a shower, and blow dried my hair. Then the doorbell rang. “Come in,” I yelled, knowing it was Nataly. She came up into my room and said hi. She was already in her cheerleading uniform. “Almost ready?” she asked. “Yup!” I yelled. I grabbed my bag and stuffed my pompoms in it. I laid my dress on my bed, and Nataly laid hers next to mine. We got our stuff and left. When we got there, it was early, but I saw Chris sitting on the bleachers. Talking to some guys. As I got closer, I saw who they were. One of them being Mark.
