Never Let You Go #23
I was running...I think. After what, I wasn't sure. It would slowly come into focus, then zoom out before I could make out what it was. I tried screaming, but nothing came out. It seemed like I was trapped, with no way out. Suddenly, my eyes flew open.
"Lindsey! Are you okay?" Justin asked worriedly. I slowly sat up and shook my head, making my hair cascade around my shoulders.
"What happened?" I asked quietly. He wrapped his arms around me, stroking my back gently.
"I'm not sure, you were mumbling in your sleep and rolling back and forth. At the end, you said my name, so I woke you up. You were freaking me out, Linds," he mumbled into my hair.
Suddenly, it clicked. I gasped loudly. I buried my head into Justin's chest, not sure what it meant. "Justin..."I trailed off, not sure where to begin.
"What, babe?" He asked, leaning back to look me in the eye.
"I had this...nightmare, I guess. I was running after something, I didn't know what, but I had to keep running. Right before I woke up, the face, it was a person I was chasing, popped into my vision. It was you, Justin, and I just remembered because something must've triggered it," I said, slightly hastily and creeped out by the meaning behind my dream.
He tightened his arms around me as I talked, and he dropped his mouth to my ear. "I'm never going to leave you, if that's what you're worried about. Never," he whispered.
"Come on," he continued on. "We're going for a walk."
"It's 2:45 in the morning!" I burst out. He just looked at me. "So?" he seemed to say. I just smiled, and shaking my head, got out of bed. He put on a sweatshirt and his sandals as I slipped on some flip flops. We slowly made our way down the stairs, turning off the lights and avoiding the creaky steps.
As we opened the front door, Justin grabbed my hand and we made our way down the driveway. It was a clear night, with the moon and stars shining clearly. There wasn't a cloud in sight, and a nice breeze blew my hair back from my face.
"Lindsey, you seriously have no idea how much you mean to me..." Justin whispered. We stopped at a bench and sat down.
"I'm seriously nothing special, Justin," I said, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
"Oh, but you are. You mean everything to me, Linds. I was so lost in this crazy world, and then I met you. And I wouldn't change one thing between us," he said, beginning to smile. I smiled back and leaned my head against his shoulder, content in the moment.
