My Dancing life
an original story written by Naomi R.
The loud Bang! in the music works perfectly with my back tuck. Suddenly my music stops and I realize I’m not the only one in the dance studio. I start to dance again expecting my music to come back on, when I hear click......click click clack! I try to ignore the fact that Macey and Kayla are doing this on purpose. I start to turn again letting my long brown hair hit me with each pecay turn. I stop dancing and look towards the mirror, seeing me, Rose, wearing my leotard and tights. I decide to pretend that I’m the only one here, I start to turn again but stumble out of it like a drunk person in a police test. What’s going on with me? Is it Macey and Kayla? Or is it my routine is acrobatic and that is not my strong suit? But whatever it is, I have to keep going, keep trying and never ever give it up. So I start again. My music starts and right when the loud base starts I do my leap. I rise in the air like a butterfly coming out of its cocoon. I think to myself “ok, turn once then jump then turn twice then walk on your hands from count four to eight.” Although no one is watching I feel as if there are thousands of people watching for me to make a mistake. Suddenly I hear voices in the room saying “Wow look at her, she’s trying to be as good as us” I turn to see Macey and Kayla standing in the door with smirks on their faces. I can tell that they have been watching me because the sound of their obnoxiously loud tap shoes went away. “What do you guys want from me?” I try to sound as if I’m not scared of them. “Kayla was upset and I thought she needed a laugh, so we decided to come watch you!” Macey replied quickly. They smirked and after a couple seconds they’re gone. I start to tear up, but instead of crying I put that passion into my dance. I hear all their mean comments in my head, but instead of being sad, I become angry. I start to dance and put all my anger and frustration into it and realize it was the best I have ever danced. I keep dancing and notice the fluidity in my dance and I finally feel proud of myself, something I haven’t felt in a very long time. I feel confident, as if no one could hurt me, not even Macey and Kayla. I decide to practice the end of my dance, two front aerials, the second aerial to the ground. I start to do my first aerial but while I am in the air I hear a huge bang coming from Macey and Kayla’s room and suddenly I find myself on the ground holding my leg in pain.
