although what happens to me isnt quite as serious, i too have a really hard time going to sleep. for me its that im extremely hot then extremely cold and then my brain wont shut up and i think of everything possible about life. not many things help me, but ive found listening to the sound of rain makes me sleepy and distracts my thoughts so you might want to try that. I also sometimes drink tea which can help :)
