Prestigiously Relatable
[Part One]
It's about 9 P.M., and Haily and I are in my dorm room just chatting about the easiest way to catch Earth Hustin's eye.
Earth Micheal Hustin is the newest student at our school, James Royce Academy. It's a prestigious boarding school off the coast of Long Island. You can only get in if you had prestigious grades in middle school and are planning to get prestigious grades in high school and get into a prestigious college. Everyone around me uses that word, prestigious. What's the Webster's definition? "Having a high reputation; honored; esteemed." Is James Royce Academy prestigious? I guess. We only take the most prestigious students around. They only have the most prestigious parents and everything's fricken prestigious!
Well, let's start at the beginning, shall we?

When I was in fourth grade, I got accepted into James Royce. So, I guess, in a way, I'm extra-prestigious. Right now, I'd be in eighth grade at a public school, but here, I'm a junior. I'm really only 13. My mom is so impressed... -ish.
My mom's a tax representative, or something. She works at, like, H&R Block, which just so happens to be about 20 feet from my doorstep. My mom was only 20 when she had her first- and only- born child, me. Satan. She never actually told me why she named me that, but I'm pretty sure it's because I was a devil to her.
Anthony VonHuren had been Sarah Preford's high school sweetheart. They met when they were both freshies. My dad had gone to James Royce and apparently graduated with honors and crap (it's all the same to me). When they decided to go off to college together (right after an early marriage), I guess they wanted a baby (?), because then I was conceived, and about 2 months before I was born, my dad died from heart failure. He'd been so stressed out from school and college and work and wanting a good job and his parent's expectations that he lost his life because of it. My mom blamed the whole thing on me (again, ?) and named me Satan.
But it's cool, because pretty much every kid I've ever met has been jealous of my name. Especially since I got to James Royce. They've all wanted it. Even Earth, who just so happens to be a guy! Who wants my name! How sweet.
Earth is just about the prettiest person on his planet. (Clever, huh?) He's smart, like me, except for he's supposed to be a freshman, so he's 14. He doesn't mind our age difference. It actually makes him more comfortable talking to me. We agreed that most of the normal juniors here are so condescending towards us. They act like we're little kids who have normal brain capacities, hah!
So, today after school, Haily and I met up in my dorm room in Jefferson Hall, which is way on the other side of campus, so she's going to sleep in my room tonight. My cranky roomie, Charlotte, has a tendency to go to bed late, so I've learned to just not talk to her once she does eventually crawl out from under her down-filled comforter.
