I got home that night
from the dance. And I was exausted. I could not wait to go to bed. But
instead I rushed into the bathroom. Looked at myself, then got to work.
I scrubbed my face... hard. Trying to remove the pounds of eyeliner,
mascara, eyeshadow, and lipgloss that had been applied that night.
I was starting to see myself again. I took out my diamond earrings
and carefully placed them in the cabinet. The hair that took forty
five minutes to straighten was now held back in a ponytail. I took
out my contacts and put on my glasses. Ran up to my room, threw
on my sweatpants and a t-shirt. I could not stand to be in that tight
shirt and those jeans any longer. I looked really good that night
all for you.
Too bad you weren't even there
