You know, it kills me...
to see so many ignorant quotes all over the place.
So many people misuse the R word and "gay". Whether or not the creator was trying to be offensive, you never know who will take offense.
People can say that because I'm straight, and because I don't have a mental disability, I shouldn't let these things bother me.
But I have people very close to my heart who are LGBT, or who do have mental disabilities, and I cannot bear the thought of them having to suffer because of that language.
People who post quotes on Witty Profiles should also know that it is against the rules to post quotes containing "hate speech."
In addition, no one knows how many LGBT or mentally disabled youth seek asylum on Witty Profiles. This could be the only place where they feel they won't be judged or discriminated against. However, when they see that language, they don't see common lingo of today. They see judgment and discrimination.
I know we're probably too young to know this, but the N word (n*gger) used to be a very popular insult. Now, it is rarely used. Don't you think there's a reason?
There is. It is because it was offensive, and people stood up and said they didn't like it.
So I say we stand up as Witty Girls (and Boys) and say that we, as a website, do not discriminate against anyone. I say we send the message that anyone can come on this website - our website - and not have to worry about judgment or discrimination based on sexual orientation or mental state.
Who's with me? ♥
