Shhh. part 1
Lacy and Matt. Matt and Lacy. That's how it always was. My brother and i were twins, he was older by ten minutes. We were exact opposites in every way. It was one of those relationships where one always had to out-do the other. We were never really close. We would pose for twin pictures, but thats as close as we ever got. People even asked us if we were really even twins.
He played football, was a soccer, lacrosse and football jock, got straight A's, funny, smart, could never do anything wrong. He partied like there was no tomorrow, not like my parents cared. Matt was nice and kind to everyone. Blonde Hair, Blue eyed boy. He got accepted early into like five colleges, all throwing money at him. He was happy, and loved his perfection. Basked in it in fact. He knew he was perfect. And he had to shove it in my face.
I was semi-popular, and well liked too. I had played varsity softball since sophomore year, and got straight B's. I had dark brown hair and brown eyes. I didn't party much, drinking with 70+ underage high schoolers in a random deserted house did not seem like the intelligent position. Needless to say, he out did me. every time. But i loved him despite of it.
Walking into the church, the heat seemed to strangle me. The hymn playing on the old organ in the back of the church became unbearable as i sat down in the first pew, next to my parents and other relatives. The black lace dress i was wearing seemed much too thick for may. I kept my thoughts to complaints of materialistic things, so i wouldn't have to think about what was coming down the aisle like a slow moving train.
My brother's casket was black, with his football number, 34 engraved on top. It was being carried by his best friends Luke, Mark, Will, Andrew, Jack and James. James. He knew....
By the time the coffin had made it down the aisle, the entire congregation was sniffling. The church was filled beyond its capacity. People were standing in the back of the church, some even outside. This is what happens when a football star in a small town, who was going to lead the team to the championship gets murdered. Everyone comes out in their sunday best to show some respect.
