   It annoys me how if you’re not good at Art or Music it’s okay because you’re just “not talented” in that area but if you’re not good at Science, Maths or English you’re “dumb”.

   she walks through the front door silently,
   trudges carefully up the stairs,
   into the kitchen,
   expecting the worst but still hoping for the best.
   she finds her mother at the table & her
   father on the couch,
   both not saying a word.
   her mother's expression is hard to read,
   but the deeper she looks, the more she
   can tell that it is one of hurt & anger.
   she looks back to where her father is
   seated, & notices the glass of red wine
   on the table in front of him.
   she knows what has been happening,
   the same stuff that always happens,
   & now she wishes she never came
   home at all.

    it’s pretty messed up, isn’t it?
    how all of a sudden, someone
    just wakes up & decides to
    never talk to you again. no reason.
    no explanation. no words said.
    they just leave you hanging like
    you never meant anything to them,
    & what hurts the most is how
