    Chapter 5
I go into my room to tell my mom I am back. She is already asleep on her bed. I decided to go over to Kali’s room. I walk across the hall and knock on her door. Her mom answers it.
“Hi, honey, how are you?” she says.
“I am good, how about you Ms. Jones?”
“I am wonderful. Are you looking for Kali, because she is down by the pool with a boy and his friend.”
“Okay, thanks!” I reply, and walk back to my room.
I go put my bathing suit on and head to the pool. I really hope that the boys are Erik and Colton. I get butterflies in my stomach as I near the pool. But then some guy steps in front of me and starts talking.
“Hey beautiful. Where are you going?”
I just wanna walk around him, I can see Kali, Colton, and Erik. The guy won’t let me though. “Please get out of my way.” I say.
“Oh come on, don’t you wanna hang out?” This guy was starting to make me nervous. He was a lot older than me.
“Excuse me,” I say. I try to brush past him but he grabs my wrist.
“Don’t just walk away from me!” He says. I start to pull away but he is still gripping my wrist. I start to panic.
    “Let GO!” I yell!
Then I notice that Colton has seen this and is heading my way. Relief floods through my body. He is almost near us and I make one last attempt to get away, but fail. He is really starting to hurt my wrist. By that time Colton has gotten their.
“What the heck do you think your doing?!” he says.
He is at least 4 inches taller than the guy and the expression on his face is that of anger.
“Hey, dude, I just wanna hang out with the girl and she won’t let me.” the man holding my wrist responds.
“Let go of her right now!” he snarls. Then he grabs the guys arm and does some move that looks like it could break a wrist. It is almost like a karate chop. Whatever it was, it worked. The guy howled in pain and let go of my wrist. I rushed to Colton’s side and the guy walked away.
“Are you okay? Did he hurt you?” he asks me.
“I’m fine but I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t showed up. Thank you!” I say. Without thinking about it I throw my arms around his neck. I feel his arms wrap around my waist and he whispers,”There is no need to thank me. Are you sure your okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. My wrist is a little sore but no permanent damage.” I reply.
We are still hugging and he pulls away. He gently takes my wrist in his hand at looks at it.
“Doesn’t loom too serious” he says. I smile and laugh. He grabs my hand and we head towards the pool.
Kali looks up from her conversation with Erik and says, “Hey, what happened? That guy was like all over you.”
“I don’t know, he wanted to ‘hang out’ with me. Luckily, Colton stopped him.” I say and smile up at him. He smiles back. Then leans down kisses my cheek again.

    the rest of chapter 4
It has a ship with a little hole in the side that you have to get the ball through. It looks kinda complicated.
“So, wanna show me how the master does it?” I ask, teasing him.
“Oh,definitely” he says with a smile,” Watch and learn.”
    I laugh,” I’m watching” I say playfully.
He puts his ball down and pretends to be lining up his shot. I laugh and he smiles at me. Then he stands up and takes a swing. He hits the ball and it goes right into the hole. Im impressed and I tell him so. He laughs the laugh I love.
    “Your turn.” He says.
“I don’t know if I can top that, it was pretty legit.” I respond.
    “Here, I’ll help you.”
    I smile in anticipation.
“So, put your hands here- and here.” He places my hands on the club and it leaves a tingling sensation after he takes his hands away.
    “Now what?” I say.
He puts his arms around me and his hands on top of mine. “Now just swing”
I am in complete heaven. We swing and it goes right into the hole!
    “Nice job!” he says.
“It was all you” I say and smile.
Then he looks right in my eyes. I think he is going to kiss me an I really want him to. He leans down.
    “Onto the next hole.”
I smile and we head to the next hole. He did the same thing at that hole. And the next, and the next, and the next. By the time we got back to the hotel it was past nine. We had stopped for ice cream when we were done. We walked hand and hand into the lobby and then into the elevator.
    “I had fun,” I said.”Hopefully I’ll see you around.”
“You definitely will” He says. I smile and the elevator doors open.
    “Goodnight” I say.
He leans in towards me and kisses me on the cheek.
“Goodnight” and we go our separate ways.

    some more of Chapter 4
They start walking in the other direction and w arrive at the Mini golf place a few minutes later. We get in line and pick our golf balls. I pick purple and Colton picks blue.
“I’m warning you,” I say,” I’ve never played before so this might not be too pretty.”
Colton laughs and responds with a comment that makes my heart skip a beat. “Don’t worry, I will help you out.” I had seen this in movie plenty of times. The guy puts his arms around the girl and helps her hit the ball. So cheesy, but I can’t wait.
“K.” I say. How stupid! I couldn’t come up with something better to say? He smiles at me and we head towards the first hole. The theme at this place is pirate or something like that. To even get to the first hole we have to walk through the bottom of the ship. There are skeletons and a box of treasure. There are also fake swords and a person dressed up like a pirate walking around.
We are walking when all the sudden a secret window in the wall pops open and a head sticks out of it. I jump and back up. I accidentally bump into Colton with my back. He laughs and whispers in my ear, “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you.” I smile and nod. Then he slips my hand into his and I smile. We finish walking through the ship and finally get to the first hole.

    Half of chapter 4
We head out of the hotel and start walking down the street. Kali and Erik are still chattering away.
“So tell me more about yourself.” says Colton.
“What do you wanna know?” I ask.
    “Everything”
I smile and blush again. “Well I live in a small town in Maine with my mom. My soccer team won state champions. My favorite color is purple. I love pizza. My favorite flower is a rose. I hate math. I play lacrosse.” Then I realize I’m talking to much so I say, “You turn.”
He laughs and it is an amazing laugh. It makes his whole face light up, including his eyes. His smile is brilliant! His teeth gleaming white. “Well, I don’t think I’m quit as exciting but here it goes. I live in vermont. My favorite color is blue. I love ice cream and my favorite animal is a dog. Last but not least, I love soccer.”
I smile and respond with a” Wow”
He laughs again and we walk for a few minutes in a comfortable silence.
Kali turns to me and says, “We decided we are gonna go to the arcade instead, you guys have fun.”
She wiggles her eyebrows at me as if to say “Enjoy the alone time and get your first kiss!” Yeah, it is true, I have never been kissed. I was secretly thinking the same thing.
Colton says, “Alright guys, have fun, catch you later Erik.”

    Chapter 3
I go into our hotel room to get my cell phone. I call Kali to find out where she is. She tells me she is by the pool. I throw on my bikini and head down to it. I see her lounging on a beach chair and sit in the one next to her.
“Hey! How was the drive?” I say.
“Long, awkward, boring. My mom brought her newest boyfriend.”
Kali’s parents got divorced a few years ago and her mom is constantly getting new boyfriends every couple of months. She hates it.
“Well, I have something to make up for the horrible drive! We have a double date tonight! We are going mini golfing at 7 with a boy I met named Colton and his friend!”
She flips down her sunglasses and smiles at me. Kali is a very pretty girl. She has long brown hair with natural blonde highlights in it. Her eyes are blue and her skin is always tan. She is very skinny and an extremely fast runner.
“Well, what are we doing sitting here? It’s five o’clock! We need to go get ready!” she says.
She grabs me by the hand and drags me up t our rooms. They are right next to each other, just as we had wanted. The rest of the soccer team isn’t here yet but our families wanted to get settles before everyone got here. Some are coming tomorrow and the rest will come the day after that.
We go into her room and she picks out her outfit. She is wearing white shorts and a flowing tank top with floral prints on it. Then we head to my room and she picks out a pair of jean shorts for me and a black V neck shirt. Then we start our hair. She straightens mine and I curl hers. Neither of us are good at doing our own hair so we usually do each other’s. Then we apply mascara and eye liner. We are finally done.
I check my phone and it is says that it is 6:45. We slip on our flip flops and dab our favorite perfume onto our necks.
“How do I look?” says Kali.
    “Awesome!” I reply.
“So do you! Now lets go meet these gorgeous soccer players!”
That is one of the things I love about Kali. She doesn’t get shy.
We head towards the lobby and sit in the chairs the reception desk to wait. after about five minutes I see the elevator doors open up. Then out comes Colton and his friend. His friend has blonde hair that sticks up in spikes. His brown eyes are pretty but Colton’s are much better. He is almost as tall as Colton and has a smile on his face.
I lean over towards Kali and whisper,” The one with brown hair is Colton, the guy I met. The other one is his friend.”
She smiles and stands up to introduce herself. It turns out that Colton’s Friends name is Erik. He and Kali hit it off really well and go right into conversations about soccer.
“Hi Reagan! You look really pretty.” says Colton. My cheeks flush and I smile.
“Thank You!” I say,”Ready to go?”
“Yup, its about a 10 minute walk.”

    Chapter 2
I smile and say,” Thanks, and by the way, my name is Reagan.”
“Im Colton” I notice something that sound almost like a southern accent, and I love it! He grabs two of the bags and we start towards the elevators.
“Are you here on vacation?” I ask.
“No, I am here for a National Soccer tournament,” he says.
“Really? Me too! Where are you from? What position do you play?”
“Im from Vermont, I play center mid defense. You?”
“I am from Maine, I play goal.”
“I would love to see you play sometime”
I smile and say,”Same, when do your games start?”
    “Next week. You?”
    “Next week”
The elevator door dings and then opens. We step out and search for my room. I learn that he is staying on the floor above us and is 15 as well. We finish unloading my car and I thank him.
“Do you wanna hang out tonight?” he asks,” There is a mini golf place right down the road. I promised my friend I would go with him but you can come too.”
“ I would love to! Do you mind if I invite Kali? She plays on my team with me and she is like my best friend.”
“Yeah, sure! I’ll meet you in the lobby at 7. It was very nice meeting you.”
“Thanks again for helping me unload.” I say. “See you tonight!”

    Chapter 1
I grabbed my jersey, folded it, and put it in my bag. We were leaving for Nationals in 2 hours. I was so excited! This would be the first time I ever left Maine in the 15 years of my life! Nationals were in Wyoming, don’t ask me why, I have no clue. I thought about all of this while I packed a month’s worth of clothes. Depending on how we did we could be there for up to a month and a half. Luckily, it was mid June and we would not be missing school. If we were my mom probably wouldn’t let me go.
There are 50 teams competing in Nationals, a team from each state. No one from our small town thinks we would actually do that well, but we will show them.
“Reagan, hurry up!” my mother called,”We are leaving soon and we still need to pack the car!”
“Okay, mom!” I holler back,”I’ll be down in a sec!”
I finish packing and look around my small room. I wish my dad were here to see me, he would be so proud. I look at his picture on my night stand and decide to slip it in my bag. It brings back memories, but that is unavoidable, what 15 year old wouldn’t remember her father’s death? It happened 4 years ago, when I was 11. He died in a plane crash. A motor on the plane failed and it ended up on the bottom of the ocean. I didn’t listen to too many details, that was about all I know.
I snap out of my thoughts and drag my bags down stairs.
“Are you excited, honey?” my mom asks,”This is such a big deal! Who would have thought you and your team could accomplish that!”
    “Gee, thanks mom.”
“Oh, honey you know that isn’t what I meant! It is just that you girls just surprised us all with what you could do!”
I chuckle,”Alright mom, let’s get this show on the road.”
We pack up the car and start the 23 hour drive to Wyoming. I don’t know why my mom didn’t just get plane tickets, but thats okay. I don’t mind driving. I find it relaxing. We drive for about 10 hours and then pull into a hotel. We spend the night their and wake up early in the morning to complete the drive. I sleep through most of it. When we finally get to our hotel I am so excited I am practically bouncing in my seat.
I start to unpack our car as my mom checks in. I am carry three bags and struggling as my mom leads me up to our room. While we are walking through the lobby I notice an extremely cute guy look at me.
He is tall, really tall. Over 6 feet, easy. His brown hair is hangs over his eyes in a messy way that look amazing on him. The thing I notice most about him is his eyes. They are a gorgeous blue. He starts to walk towards me and I wished that my hair was down, instead of in a messy bun.
I am a pretty regular looking girl. Fair complexion with rosy cheeks. I have dirty blonde hair that hangs halfway down my back. My eyes are a light green and pretty boring if you ask me. I am five foot six and I am pretty skinny, with no curves. Nothing too interesting.
Anyways, back to the guy. He walks up to me and says, “Hi, do you need some help? Those bags look pretty heavy.”
    I smile and say,”Sure, thanks.”
Then my mom pipes in and says,” Oh look there is some of the soccer moms! Do you mind unpacking the car honey? You will find the room, number 134 on the fourth floor.”
I roll my eyes, “I guess mom, have fun.”
Then I turn back to the guy and notice that he is staring right at me. Up close I can see that his eyes have little specks of grey in them.
“I can help you, if you would like.” He says.
“Oh, you don’t have to do that” I say.
He looks directly into my eyes and says,” I want to.”

    Prologue
My heart was pounding. Sweat trickled down the back of my neck. I stood on the line in my goal, my eyes intent on the soccer ball, as I awaited the Penalty Kick that would decide the out come of the game. I watched as the ref blew his whistle and the girl blasted the ball towards the goal. I dove towards the right corner, then felt the ball connect with my fist. Cheers erupted behind me.
I had done it, we had done it! My soccer team just won the state finals! We were going to Nationals! My team ran all around me, jumping and squealing.
My best friend, Kali, came up to me and gave me a hug. She played center mid.
“We did it, oh my gosh, we actually did it!” she cried!
“I know, I know, we are going to Nationals!” I screamed back.
And that is where my story began.
