    God Gave Me You
    chapter two
    Montgomery, Alabama.
To me you are just a one horse town and as dull as the color brown.
Why'd I have to move from glam New York to a town with people who use their fingers, not a fork?
I am worried and full of fear.
Gosh do I hate it here.
Sometimes I like to write poetry, so the moment I got to the house I sat down at our new wooden table and wrote that poem. I like to draw too, and photograph beautiful pictures. I hate it here. I hate it here, so much. I miss my boyfriend, my best friend, and my extravagant New York life. Then tomorrow I have to go to school. Stupid Lanier High.
"Calynn! Oh Calynn!" Jordyn said, excitedly.
"What?" I said, kind of rude to be honest.
"Want to go walk around? Daddy won't let me go alone." She smiled, used her puppy dog eyes, and interlaced her fingers, "Please, please?"
Can't deny that. "Fine." I stubbornly said back
I stepped in front of the mirror, it was about 50 degrees outside. It wasn't bad at all so I just put a zip up hoodie over my navy blue patterned tank top and kept my faded, ripped up, jeans on. After looking at myself, taking in how long my dark brown hair has gotten and how my purple eyeliner caused the green in my hazel eyes to pop, I considered it decent enough. I got on my converse and I left with Jordyn.
We walked through the neighborhood until we got to a park, I was terribly bored here. I looked all around and all there was were dirt roads, open fields, too many to count ponds. We lived on the outskirts of Montgomery, almost in a different smaller town. The fact we were on the outskirts, to me, meant we were now farm people. I looked over at Jordyn and took note that she was having fun here. Maybe this won't be that bad. If Jordyn is happy, then I am. I am almost done with school anyways, she's got a long way to go. I'll just let her enjoy it out here. We walked a little more until she wanted to go to where she'd be attending school, Hildrest Elementry. It wasn't too far from the new house, but she's still going to need to take a bus.
"Calynn. I really like it out here." She said, with a dreamy look on her face, staring out at the field down the dirt road. "I'll adjust." I said plainly.
We started to walk back, on our way to the school, but passed Culvers and of course Jordyn wanted ice cream, so I went in with her. She went to sit at the table, and I went to order. After standing in line for like 3 minutes, a guy with a flannel, some cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, and some dusty jeans, came up to me. Admittedly he was cute, but I'm with David. I'd never cheat on David, despite the distance. He is the love of my life.
    "Hey" the stranger said.
"..Hi?" I questioned why he was saying hey to me. Maybe he was going to pull a knife, or a gun. Maybe he wanted to kidnap me and brutally kill me. There were so many stories like this in New York, and this guy isn't going to fool me with his good looks and sly ways.
"I was gettin out of my truck when I saw you and your lil sister. I think you're gorgeous." He had a southern accent, of course.
...Well I certainly blushed but I didn't say anything back.
"Never seen ya round here." he continued the conversationf
"New in town." I replied, shyly
"I think your accent is cute." Ugh, now I'm the one with the accent.
    "Thanks.."
"Where ya gonna go to school cutie?" ...his southern accent
    "Lanier." I quietly said
"Well I'll be darned, I already go there."
"Really?" I tried to keep my excitment low, but when I looked in his brown eyes my heart skipped
"Yessire. Got any new friends yet?" he asked, so simply.
    "Nope, just moved today."
"Can I be your first?" He smiled. Maybe he could show me around Lanier, and maybe I won't get lost.
    "Sure" I said smiling back
"Gotta pen? Cuz here's my number. Shoot me a call or text." I took a pen off the order counter and he wrote his number on my hand. "Order 23!" The cashier called.
"Well that's me, gotta go. I'll text you soon. Thanks" I smiled weakly at him, grabbed the ice cream, and walked away. What was wrong with me? Was I just flirting? I have an amazing boyfriend in New York. No, I wasn't flirting. This stranger is just my friend, that's all. I've heard of southern hospitality, he wasn't flirting either. He's just nice.
"Who was that boy?" Jordyn asked, with curiosity filled eyes.
    "I honestly don't know."

    God Gave Me You
    (1)
I knew this day was coming, I just didn’t want to admit it. Weeks of packing up all my stuff, and dad confirming things over with my new school, Lanier High. It sounded dumb to me, to pack up your entire life and move across the country for some dumb job offer. We were perfectly happy without my mom. Jordyn, my little sister, doesn't even really remember her. She left us with my dad in New York, New York. One day she just got up and walked out. I blame her for the heartache on my dad, but he got over it supposedly. Jordyn was only 3 while I was 10. I'm 16 now, and shes 9. My entire life has been here in New York. David, the only true love of my entire life and Sammie, my best friend who has gotten me through all the ups and downs.
I always thought of my life as invincible, like Superman. It had been going perfect, then my dad came home from work and bluntly said "We are moving to Alabama." I thought he was kidding so I laughed and said "Okay I'm going to David's. Have fun planning our 'move'". I found out the following day he was serious. I was crushed. I screamed at him, I cried, I said I hated him, I didn't mean it though. He's the best father anybody could ask for, but how could he do this to me? I'm dying of heartbreak over here and I can't do anything at all. Sammie said I could move in with her, but I'm not ready to leave my dad with Jordyn. She's a hassle and that'd pretty much show my dad how much I 'loved' him.
"Calynn. I love you. I'll love you every day until the end of forever. Calynn, do you think we could do this? Have a long distance relationship?" David asked me.
"We've been through so much together. We're juniors, and it's halfway through the year. Think you can last a half a year until I come back for summer?"
"Of course." David said, so simply. He hugged me tight until Sammie broke in, and broke down.
"Sammie. I'll be back. I promise. I'll come over the summer. And I'll come over scheduled breaks. I promise I'm coming back for you two." I said before I started crying in Sammie's shoulder. Jordyn then called me a baby, and told me to get in the truck. She seemed happy about moving. I don't know why, at all. Jordyn was a city girl, she loved shopping, the city lights, and the changing weather. She doesn't even like country music and she doesn't own a pair of cowboy boots, so what's so exciting in Alabama for her? I looked at both David and Sammie and said "I promise I'll be back".
17 hour drive, just great. Montgomery, Alabama, here I come.
