“Wake up Molly, This is the 5th time you are late in 2 weeks” My mother called.
“Because she stays up all night talking to her boyfriend.” Shouted my brother from his bedroom.
“Oh SHUTUP DAVID!” I shouted.
I was sick of him. He was the “straight A student” and to what my mother said “perfect”. Her “dream son” I wish daddy was home to call me “perfect” and his “dream daughter”. But daddy isn’t here, he’s in a better place then here. He has been since I was a little girl, 7 to be excect. I’m 16 now. We all know it’s not fair. But when I tell my terrible step-dad he replies “Life’s not fair”. I hate him, I hate life, I hate that daddy isn’t here.
“Joey, get your step-daughter up and ready for school by 6:00 o’clock sharp. It’s important that she passes and stops getting so many lates.” My mother yelled down the stairs to her bedroom.
“Mother, you know that I’m not his step-daughter. I don’t want to be. I never will be. He sucks at being a dad” I yelled to her.
“Watch what you say Molly! Say you’re sorry to your father NOW!” She yelled.
“Sorry Joey.” I said.
Dear diary,
Bad day. All I could think about was that daddy passed 11 years ago after the divorce. I was thinking what Mother told me the other day, the real story. My parents have been talking about a divorce without telling me or my brother. They didn’t “click” anymore. Daddy still loved mommy with all of his heart. He didn’t want to let her go. So when the divorce was final, Mother told daddy to “Get out of the house and never call again.” She wanted us to herself. I favored daddy and everybody, including the teachers knew that. He did as mother told because he still loved her and would do anything to build that love strong again. It was pouring, this was the worst storm we have had in 7 years. Daddy loved Mother so out the door he went. Daddy was driving, very angry and 100 miles per hour. No cops around to catch him. No one out to even call the cops. Then before he could see anything, 2 big semis were coming at him. Daddy was in the wrong lane. He slammed the brakes as hard as he could, but with rain, that wasn’t very hard. He twisted and turned. The semis didn’t see daddy’s tiny car. He was hit by the semis just like that. The semis didn’t notice. And even if they did, stupid truckers wouldn’t stop for nothin’! Anyways, like 10 minutes later a car passed. They saw and called 911. Want to know how I know? Well I don’t remember, but my brother sure does. The car that called 911, well that was us. We needed milk, so on our way to the market we saw that. I still remember everything. But my dad dying. I was so scared. When I got out of the car I hit my head on the door, sending me to the car seat. I was out like a light. I didn’t remember anything after that. That’s what my mom had to tell me.

“Miss. Molly, Can you please answer the question?” Snorted Mrs. B.
“Huh?” I said confused.
“Not paying attention again? That’s a step. See me after class.”
She said.
“Ugh. Again?”
I groaned.
“Yes again. Get your act together missy.”
She complained.
This is the what… 4th time I got a step in what… 3 days? Mother won’t be happy.. It’s going to be non stop complaining for that next week.
Brrriiiinnnggg! 3rd period is over. All I have to do is sneak out of class and no step for me!
“MOLLY! Don’t you dare try to sneak out of here. That’s an automatic write up in my class room. What you were doing in class today, writing in your little diary or whatever is not going to get you an A. Tomorrow I want you and your silly notebook in front of the class with everything coming out front to back, or a detention.” She said.
What a brat. I thought. What do you think I’m going to say? Let me read my deepest darkest secrets in front of the whole class. Ya! Fun! Do teachers get stupider and stupider each year you meet them?
“I guess, I’ll have a detention.” I mumbled.
“No, actually, I would like to know what that diary says. So that’s what it is. You’re reading your diary.” Giggled Mrs. B.
