    Chapter 13
    Hayden's Point of View
"Hayden, I was expecting you here." a voice suddenly said.
I removed my attention from the sink, as I stared at the mirror's reflection in front of me.
Maddi stood there, with her arms crossed.
I gulped, as I turend around, staring at her with fear.
She stepped closer to me, as a smirk appeared across her glossy lips.
"How are you?" Maddi asked, with her cat like eyes burning with a gleam of evilness.
I ignored her question, trying to find a way to get out of her trap.
"I have to go back to class." I muttered, trying to weave by her.
Her hand quickly gripped around my arm.
She held it tightly, as her long nails dug into my skin.
I winced in pain, as my heart raced from her cold touch.
"Not so fast, Hayden." she glared.
I tried to wiggle my arm out of her grip, but all she did was hold on tighter.
Flashbacks of my father leaving bruises on my arms immediately came across my mind.
I closed my eyes tightly, struggling to be freed.
"What's wrong, Hayden? Are you uncomfortable when someone touches you?" Maddi asked.
The tone in her voice made it sound like she knew something secretive about me.
"Let go." I gritted through my teeth.
Maddi narrowed her icy blue eyes at me.
"Not until you promise to never look or speak to Hunter, ever again." she snapped.
I sucked in a deep breath, staring at her with disgust.
Hunter was my only friend, and I wasn't letting him go.
    "No." I said without hesitation.
Maddi raised her perfectly plucked eyebrows, giving me a cold glare.
"You're making this harder for yourself, Hayden." she said, dangerously low.
She let go of my hand, as her manicured fingers pulled sheets of paper out of her designer purse.
She waved them in my face, as I clutched onto them.
My eyes scanned the words, as my heart sank to the very bottom of my gut.
My breath shortened, as I stared at Maddi with shock.
Maddi simply smirked, snatching the papers away from my hands.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" she asked innocently.
She read the article out loud, with each word burning my soul.
"Jeremy Morris, father of two young children, is a convicted murderer of his own son?" she read.
I glared at her with a burning passion of hatred.
"Well, Hayden. Isn't your last name Morris, as well?" Maddi asked amusedly.
"What do you want from me?" I asked, lowering my eyes.
Maddi crossed her arms, and smiled evilly.
"Like I said before, I want you to leave Hunter alone." she simple shrugged.
I clenched my jaw, feeling water filling my eyes.
"And if I don't?" I dared to question.
She stepped closer to me, until our eyes were leveled.
"Then these papers will be copied, and sent to every student and teacher in this school." Maddi answered.
A single tear rolled down my cheek.
    Maddi laughed at my devastation.
"Well, do we have ourselves a deal?" she asked.
I held in my breath, as my lips quivered.
I couldn't believe the words that were coming out of my mouth right now.
Hunter will hate me, and this will scar me for life.
    "Deal." I whispered.
She let out a snicker, pushing past me.
She headed for the door, turning her back on me.
Before she left, she gave me a wink.
"Remember, Hayden. If you break this deal, your life will be ruined. You'll be known as the laughing stock and the school's psycho." she reminded me.

    Chapter 14
After morning classes that day, it was finally lunch hours.
I was caught up into a crowd of students, who were rushing towards their lockers to drop their stuff off.
I tried to weave my way by them, so I could get to the library early.
I felt someone pushing my shoulder, as tripped over someone's legs.
    I felt myself shooting forwards.
I closed my eyes tightly, preparing myself for the impact of falling.
But, instead, my face fell into someone's built chest.
My eyes opened, as I peered upwards.
A blush crepted upon my face, as Hunter smiled down smugly on me.
My body was pressed agaisnt his, as he held my waist from falling.
His warm fingers were burning against my skin, even though I was wearing a shirt.
"I saved you." he stated the obvious.
I was so mesmerized by his blue eyes.
I narrowed my eyes away, knowing I had to avoid him at all causes.
I squirmed out of his grip, as I brushed by him.
I took in a deep breath, as my stomach twisted in a ball of guilt.
I knew I shouldn't be like this to Hunter, after all he had done for me.
    But, Maddi...
"Hayden, hold on!" Hunter called, pressing his hand on my shoulder.
Her turned me around, as I stared right at him.
"Would you want to get something to eat after school?" he asked me, hope glistening in his eyes.
The word 'yes' almost slipped out of my mouth.
It would've, if it weren't for a pair of evil eyes staring at me behind Hunter's shoulder.
My eyes widened with fear, as my palms became sweaty.
I gulped, as Maddi gave me a warning look.
I closed my eyes briefly, as I stared back at Hunter.
    "I-I can't." I stammered.
    His mouth slightly pouted.
"What about tomorrow, yeah?" he asked.
I sighed, as Maddi smirked at me.
"I can't, either, Hunter." I said, almost sounding hurt.
He frowned, using his thumb, rubbing circles on my temples.
"Is there something wrong, Hayden?" he asked worriedly.
    Yes, there is.
"No, Hunter." I paused, looking at Maddi, who was glaring at me threateningly.
"Listen, Hunter." I sighed, pushing his hands away from me. "I-I can't hang around you anymore."
    My throat tightened up.
    "Why not?" he asked, frowning.
"Be- because I don't like you." I said, voice cracking.
Maddi, who stalked us from behind Hunter's shoulder, smiled with satisfaction.
Hunter looked startled, staring at me with shock.
"Not even as friends." I lied. "I don't like you, at all. You're just one dumb jock."
I could feel my eyes welling up with tears, as I broke free from Hunter's grip.
I began to run down the hall, hiding in the corner.
Tears streamed down my face, as I pressed my head against the wall.
I was being so selfish, hiding my own past and risking Hunter and my friendship.
    I'm so sorry, Hunter.
    I'm so sorry, Cameron.

    Chapter 15
It has been a week since I've spoken to Hunter.
Everytime we brushed by each other in the hallways, we both acted like we never met each other.
I could feel my heart shattering at the fact that all our memories were gone and wasted.
I took a deep breath, trailing my fingers on the portrait of Cameron.
"Cam, what would you do if you were in my position?" I whispered.
Of course, the still-life picture didn't reply to me, as I stared at Cam's cheeky grin in the photo.
I sighed, as I shoved the picture on my bottom drawer, under my stacks of jeans.
I swung my book bag around my shoulder, as I jogged down the stairs.
Ruth was already up, sipping on a cup of coffee, as she read this morning's paper.
She briefly glanced at me, before returning her eyes to the newspaper.
"Hayden, are you heading to school now?" she asked.
I nodded, as I shoved my feet in some old sneakers.
"Why hasn't that boy come to pick you up this past week?" Ruth asked.
My throat tightened up, as I tied my shoelaces.
    "H-He's busy." I lied.
Ruth nodded understandingly. "Well, have fun at school."
I groaned, as I headed out the door.
Fun wasn't exactly the best word to describe school, as of now.
Now that Hunter has been erased from my life, I've went back to where I started, as a loner.
Maddi and a few jocks have went back to teasing me.
I guess with Hunter as my friend, he was protecting me from them.
I hurried in the school, as my cheeks were peachy pink from the cold wind outside.
It was mid- December, and I could almost predict the snow about to come falling down.
My head turned towards the east wing of the first flood, as my eyes widened.
I could feel by heart sinking, as two people walked down the hall.
Their arms were touching as they walked, with their hands tangled together.
I stopped breathing, as Maddi gave Hunter a peck.
My face grew pale when he didn't pull back.
My knuckles clenched, as I watched the couple flirt endlessly.
    Why, Hunter?
You even told me Maddi wasn't your type.
You even laughed when I asked if you had a thing with her.
I bit my lower lip, as my eyes immediately met Hunter's.
A bunch of emotions were running through his glossy blue eyes.
I tried to hide my feelings, as I removed my broken eyes from his.
I began to walk towards the other end of the hallway, ignoring the fact that they were together now.
My eyes became moist, as I dashed in the bathroom.
I ran over to the sink, splashing cold water on my tear stained face.
You deserve all of this, you rotten child! My father said.
His eyes were infuriated, bloodshot and drunken red, staring back at me from the mirror's reflection.
I closed my eyes tightly, trying to get rid of the image.
"Please, go away." I whispered, beggingly.
To my surprise, the image vanished, as I panted.
Maybe it is all my fault.
I was the one who pushed Hunter away for my own selfish reasons.
I stepped out of the bathroom, just as I knocked heads with Maddi.
She rubbed her nose, giving me an intense glare.
"Brat! Just because I'm with Hunter now, doesn't mean you can break my nose! It costs more than you do!" she screeched, pushing my shoulder.
Tomorrow's my one year anniversary on Witty! :)
Love everyone who has supported me for a year! ♥ Thanks!

    Chapter 16
I rolled up my sleeves that night, taking in a deep breath.
My eyes finally took enough courage to stare down, as my nimble fingers traced my outdated and nearly faded scars.
There were exactly three of them, all lined up against my wrist.
They were long, and had a pinch of color in them.
I let out my breath, so tempted to rejoin my old habits once again.
My hands trembled, as I stopped myself from digging the sharp razor into my skin.
    I couldn't do it, again.
I promised not only myself, but Cameron.
I vowed to never cut myself again, it would only make my condition worse.
The clean, unused razor dropped to the tiled floor, making a clinging sound.
I drenched my face with cold water, as it soaked my bangs slightly.
I needed to snap out of it, I had to stop thinking so suicidal thoughts.
If I killed myself, I'm sure Cameron wouldn't approve of it.
If he was still alive, he would scold at me for risking something so rare on the line, my life.
I took a warm shower, washing away all my thoughts, as salty tears streamed down my face.
They blended in with the water shooting out of the shower.
After I got out of the shower, my wet hair was clinging onto my face, as I tossed on some comfortable clothing.
The doorbell suddenly rang, as I sprinted downstairs to get it, knowing Ruth wasn't going to be home tonight.
With one swift movement, I twisted the doorknob, letting the door swing open.
Standing with snow covering his hood, and rosy red cheeks, Hunter gave me an emotionless stare.
My breath got caught in my throat.
Hunter was standing in my doorway at night.
"Can I come in?" Hunter finally asked.
I felt myself nod, forgetting whatever Maddi had told me.
I closed the door behind, as Hunter came inside, taking his hood off.
His shiny black hair was revealed, as he avoided my gaze.
I frowned, feeling my heart drop.
This was the first time he wasn't being friendly towards me.
It made me feel kind of empty.
"Do you want something to drink?" I whispered.
He ignored my question, finally looking at me with intense eyes.
I gulped, staring away from him blazing blue eyes.
"I'll get you some coffee." I muttered, brushing by him.
Before I got to take more than two steps, a strong hand made its way on my wrists.
Hunter gripped my arm, as he jerked me forwards.
I landed forcefully, yet gently, right on his chest.
My free hand was pressed agaisnt his built chest, as a blush crept up my neck.
Why was Hunter acting so strange?
    "I, uh, I-I-"
    I couldn't speak in a correct manner.
Everything that I tried to say came out as a bunch of stutters.
Why was I getting so nervous?
"Look at me." he finally said.
I held in my breath, as I ignored his command.
I could feel his body tensing, as he took one hand, placing it on my chin.
He traced his thumb on my jawline, tilting my head.
My eyes met his, as his hand fell to his side.
"You didn't mean it, did you?" he whispered.
His warm breath trickeled down my neck, creating small goosebumps.
    "M-mean what?" I choked out.
His arms suddenly wrapped around my waist, pulling my in.
He placed his chin on top of my head, as my breathing became slow, while my heart began to race.
"What you said to me, never wanting to be my friend." he mumbled.

"Did you mean it?" he repeated, a mix of emotions in his eyes.
Of course I didn't mean any of those insults I spat at him.
But, I couldn't bring myself forward to admit it.
    Why was I so scared?
Because you're falling in love with him.
    I couldn't trust anyone, especially a male.
All men reminded me of my father.
I was indelusional, and I feared that if I became too attached to Hunter, he would hurt me.
His toned body was pressed against mine, as his warm hands began to rub circles around my cheekbones gently.
My cheeks became warm, as his thumb touched my skin.
He brushed away a long strand of hair that covered my face, never removing his gaze from mine.
    What was he doing?
"If you don't answer, I'm going to have to force it out of you." he warned.
His voice sounded so soothing and calm, but at the same time, so threatening.
My eyes widened, as he inched his head closer to mine, until our foreheads came to contact.
My heart began to pump loudly at the fact that our lips were practically an inch apart.
"Last chance." he whispered, his cool spearminted breath brushing on my face.
I held in my breath, as my eyelids fluttered down.
A second later, I felt Hunter's soft lips agaisnt mine.
He held my waist firmly, gently pushing me against the wall.
The kiss was slow and simple, yet so passionate.
A felt my lips curve into a small smile agaisnt his lips.
This was exactly how I pictured my first kiss to be.
We finally pulled away, as my cheeks turned red.
I dared myself to stare back at Hunter, whose face went pale.
The small smile I had on my face had dropped.
Why were his eyes so blank?
Why did he look so regretful.
I suddenly peeled his hands away from my waist, as I stared at him with confusion.
"I-I'm sorry." he hesitated, backing away from me. "That was a mistake."
The words stabbed me like knifes, as my eyes welled up.
I sucked in my breath, holding the tears back in.
    A mistake?
How come my first kiss with him meant everything to me, but nothing to him?
Suddenly, he shook his head, his black hair falling in his eyes.
"I-I didn't mean it like that, though!" he defended.
I gulped, shutting my eyes tightly.
"I think you should go now." I whispered, voice trembling.
A frown replaced Hunter's perfect features.
    Even that suited him well.
    "Hayden, let me-"
    My fists clenched with anger.
Why does everything good that comes to my life disappears?
"Just go!" I snapped, tears finally streaming down my cheeks.
Hunter closed his rosy lips, turning around.
I heard the front door opening and closing.
The sound of Hunter's car driving away was also audible.
    Hunter's Point of View
My hands wrapped around the steering wheel with anger.
The music was blaring from my speakers, as my jaw clenched with frustration.
I drove to Joey's house, where he was hosting another infamous party.
It was time to forget all it all.

    Maddi's Point of View
"Hunter, let's go to the mall after school." I said, making it sound more like a command than a question.
Hunter didn't seem to be paying attention, and he was making it obvious.
His gaze was adverted towards the far left section of the classroom, as I followed it.
    My eyes landed on Hayden.
She was sitting alone in the corner, reading one of our English novels.
I twisted my glossy lips, digging my manicured nails into my skin.
Why the hell was he staring at her?
    He was mine.
"Hunter." I gritted through my teeth.
Hunter flinched, staring at me with surprise.
It was like he didn't even know that his own girlfriend was sitting next to him during the whole class.
"Yes?" he asked, taking one last glance at Hayden.
I took in a deep breath, trying to calm myself down.
Hunter's been acting up since the night of the party, but I tried my best to ignore it.
"We're going to the mall after school today" I repeated.
Hunter turned to me with a frown."
"I don't remember agreeing to that." he rubbed the back of his neck.
His hair messily fell in front of his eyes, as I pursed my lips.
"Well, we are. It'll be a fun date." I smiled sweetly, clinging on his toned arms.
Hunter sighed, as I kept catching him sneaking glances at Hayden.
I wanted to climb on top of the desk and scream at him for staring at him.
Hayden was a loser with a psycho past.
    She didn't deserve Hunter.
So, why was Hunter so interested in her?
"I-I don't think I can make it." he muttered, still staring at her.
I pouted, crossing my arms with frustration.
"Fine. I'll just go with Derek." I snarled.
Hunter waved his hand, not even paying attention.
    "Fine, that's good." he mumbled.
Suddenly, the sound of a chair scrapping across the floor filled the room.
Hayden stood up, as she began to head out the door.
Before I knew it, Hunter jogged out of the classroom, following her.
    Hayden's Point of View
    Class was boring.
The teacher was dead asleep on the desk, and I couldn't put up with Maddi and Hunter constantly flirting.
I got up and left class without permission, wandering around the halls.
I was going to head to my locker to get my books to prepare for my next class, but I was stopped by a shuffling of footsteps behind me.
I reluctantly turned around, as Hunter stared at me, just a few feet away.
I bit my lower lip, fiddling with my fingers nervously.
I began to turn around to continue to my locker, but he stopped me.
"Wait, Hayden." he caught up with me. "We need to talk."
Don't push him away. I told myself.
I cleared my throat, as he approached me. "About what?"
He took in a deep breath, licking his lips.
A part of me melted when he did that.
"We need to talk about what happened the other night." he said.
I gulped, thinking back to the kiss.
It was my first kiss, and he said it was a mistake.
"I didn't mean it like that when I said it was a... mistake." he hesitated.
I could feel my lips quiver, as I shook my head.
I forced a small smile on my face, gulping.
"No, no, it's fine. It- it meant absolutely nothing." I lied. "I'm sorry about everything okay? From insulting you to the whole kiss thing. Let's just forget that it ever happened."
Hunter's face was pained, which broke my heart.
"W-we should just move on from our lives. It's better for the both of us." my voice cracked, as tears threatened to spill out.
Hunter remained quiet, which killed me.
"I-I'm going to the bathroom now." I abruptly annoucned, pushing past him.
    Maddi's a pain in the _____ :)

    Hayden's Point of View
When I arrived at school the next morning, all eyes landed on me.
I shuddered, obviously not liking all of the individual attention I was recieving.
"Do you think it's true?" I heard a girl ask.
    "That's her!" one boy pointed.
I swallowed, as I kept my head down.
I approached my locker, twisting the lock combination until it clicked open.
The next thing I knew, a hundred copies of papers came flying out of my locker, all landing in a messy pile around my feet.
"Is it true that your dad is a psycho?" Maddi snarled from me behind, holding an article.
My heart sank, as my eyes widened.
My hands trembled, as I bent down to retrieve a copy.
My eyes scanned over the familiar words, as tears welled up in my eyes.
I glared at Maddi, as she smirked at me.
"If you aren't going to answer, I'm going to assume these articles are true." she said in a sugar coated voice, eyes sparkling with a glint of evilness.
I clenched my fists my my sides, unable to speak.
How is it possible for a human to be so evil?
"Hey, what's up with the crowd?" a voice suddenly asked.
My head whipped over to the side, as Hunter entered the scene.
He was smiling happily, but his grin dropped once he saw Maddi and I in the center.
He frowned, as his eyes trailed down to the piles of papers on the floor.
"What's going on?" he asked with confusion.
Maddi strutted her way over to Hunter, as her hips moved from side to side.
Her arms suddenly wrapped around his biceps, as she rested her head on his shoulder.
"Read for yourself, babe." she said innocently.
I watched as her manicured fingers waved the article in Hunter's face.
Hunter looked hesitant, as he stared at me.
I cursed under my breath once Hunter got a hold of the papers.
His eyes ran over the paper.
I sucked in a deep breath, unable to read his expression.
Once he stared back up at me, his face paled.
Hunter probably thought I was insane now.
Insane, just like my father was.
He probably wanted to stop hanging around me now, it would ruin his reputation... even more.
"She's crazy, babe, I'm telling you." Maddi warned, staring at me like an unknown creature.
I tore my gaze from Hunter, as I stared at the ground.
My legs suddenly picked up, as I began to run.
I pushed through the thick crowd, not caring if I hurt someone.
I sprinted down the hallways, escaping the evil school.
I ran and ran, until I was breathless.
I finally came to a stop where I bent over, pressing my palms agaisnt my knee caps.
My breathing was fast and heavy, as I saw my breath come out from my mouth.
When my heart rate slowed down, I took the time to look at my surroundings.
My hands shook as I realized that I was at the bad side of the town.
There was garbage scattered across the street, and drug dealers walking around.
I've heard stories about murders from this side of town.
The people here did things worse than my father could ever do.
There was once a story about a woman, who was held hostage for months.
She was promised by her kidnapper that she would be released, but she never was.
She was found dead, and completely burnt on the roof of a run down apartment building.
There was also another story where-
"Be quiet little girl. you're coming with us." someone suddenly hissed in my ears.

I began to panic as a firm hand clamped over my mouth.
My first instinct was to kick, so I started to squirm under their tight grip.
I tried to scream, but under the person's hand, it sounded like a bunch of muffles.
Suddenly, I heard chuckling behind me.
My body was loosened, as the person removed his hands from my body.
I turned around, fists in the air, readying to punch.
As soon as I saw Hunter, my fists dropped to my sides.
I was confused, yet I growled with anger when he continued to laugh.
"You think this was funny?! You nearly gave me a heart attack!" I snapped, slapping his shoulder.
Hunter bit his lower lip, trying to stop his endless laughter.
"S-sorry, you're reaction was just priceless!" he grinned.
I rolled my eyes, turning my back from him, as I started to walk.
He caught up with me, placing his warm hand on my wrist.
"Where are you going?" he held me.
I pulled my arm away from him, crossing my them as I avoided eye contact with him.
"You can't ignore me forever, Hayden." he sighed, yanking my arm forcefully as I stopped in my tracks.
"Why did you even come after me?" I whispered.
Hunter let out a bitter laugh. "Why wouldn't I?"
I narrowed my eyes away from him, as I nervously played with the ends of my hair.
"Because you know the truth now..." I trailed off.
Hunter let out a groan, placing his hands at my waist.
Immediately, I blushed as Hunter smirked.
"That doesn't change me prespective of you." he pulled me closer.
My cheek came in contact with his chest, as he held me with protection.
    "Is doesn't?" I asked.
Hunter rested his chin on the top of my head.
"Of course not, silly." he paused. "What your dad did to you and your brother wasn't your fault. You were the victim."
I bit my lip. "Cameron was the victim, too."
Hunter played with my hair, running his finger through it.
He pulled my head back slowly, as he pressed his lips on my forehead.
I closed my eyes at his gentle touch, as he wrapped his fingers through mine.
"Let's get you home now, it's getting late." he muttered.
We went back into his car, where he parked about a block away.
He began to drive me back home, and it seemed as if I ran far away, because it took us a while.
By the time Hunter dropped me back at home, Ruth was waiting for me in the kitchen.
She seemed stressed, and her face was tight and serious.
    "Ruth, what's wrong?" I asked.
Ruth sighed, shaking her head as messy loose strands of hair fell onto her barely aged face.
"I got a call from your principal earlier today." she sighed. "Why didn't you tell me you were getting bullied at school?"
I bit my tongue nervously. "It was no big deal, I didn't want you to worry."
Ruth rubbed the back of her neck. "It was no big deal? The principal told me everyone found out about your father, and they're putting up nasty posters and pictures everywhere in the school!"
I don't think Ruth's ever raised her voice at me before.
I sulked back into the wall, obviously scared by her harsh tone.
Her face softened. "Hayden, I can't send you back to that school."
"I'm in the middle of my junior year!" I cried.
Ruth shook her head. "It's not good parenting if I do."
I clenched my fists by my sides. "You aren't even my real mom!" I spat, tears streaming down my face.
I stromed up the stairs, slamming my door shut.
No, I couldn't loose Hunter, right when I just got him.

    Chapter 28
    "That's her, that's the psycho's daughter!" a guy pointed.
I walked down the halls as everyone stopped to stare and point at me.
I've never recieved so much attention before.
But, then again, I've never felt so left out and outcasted.
"Don't touch her! You might become crazy!" a girl snickered, stepping out of the way as I barely brushed by her shoulder.
I gulped, trying to ignore all of the hurtful comments as everyone laughed.
I was thankful, though, that some people looked sympathetic.
I knew they would never talk to me in front of everyone, though.
They knew that talking to me was like commiting social suicide.
I stopped by my locker, as I began to dump all of my contents out in a duffel bag.
After a moment of cleaning out my locker, I felt someone leaning agaisnt the locker beside mine.
I peeked my head from my locker door, as Hunter grinned back at me.
I blushed, as I hid back a barely visible smile.
    "Good morning." he cheerily said.
I nodded back in response, as I stuffed a few notebooks in my bag.
"Why are you cleaning out your locker? As far as I know, we have four months of school left." he joked.
I laughed bitterly, as my own voice got choked up in my throat.
Hunter's cheeky grin suddenly faded, being replaced by a deep frown.
"All jokes aside, Hayden. Why are you clearing out your locker?"
I sighed, as I paused my movements.
I turned to face him bravely, trying my best not to let my eyes prickle with tears.
"Ruth's sending me to private school." I bluntly said.
Hunter ran a hand through his messy dark hair.
"Is this because of the pathetic crap Maddi pulled?" he asked, his voice low and full of anger.
I nodded, as I drummed my fingers agaisnt the metal of the locker door.
"That's fine, right? We can always meet up during weekends!" Hunter smiled weakly.
To my surprise, he took my hands.
He interwined our fingers, latching them together tightly.
I felt my feet staggering forwards a few steps, as my body came crashing towards his.
Immediately, people stopped walking in the halls to stare.
A blush crept up my neck.
"Hunter, people are staring." I whispered.
    He didn't seem fazed, though.
His eyes were focused on mine, blazing with determination.
"We can meet up during the weekends, right?" he repeated.
How was I going to tell him that I was moving to California?
    I held in my breath.
"I don't think either of us would want to pay for an expensive plane ticket every week." I muttered.
His grip tightened around my wrists, as I flinched.
"A plane ticket?" he paused. "Where is this private school?"
I tore my gaze away from his, unable to look at his hurt expression.
    "California." I whispered.
    Hunter's eyes closed shut.
When he opened back up his eyes, he cleared his throat.
He pulled me close, pressing my head against his chest.
He began to plant small kisses on my hair, as I listened to his heart beat.
"That's so far away." he mumbled in my hair.
A tear fell out my eye, as it soaked against his shirt.
"I know, I'm so sorry. I couldn't do anything about it." I croaked.
He pulled away, looking at me in the eye with seriousness.
"But, we can make it work, right?" he asked.
I smiled shyly, as a tear rolled down my temple.
    "We can try."

    Chapter 29
    One Year Later
    Hunter's Point of View
    Graduation.
Graduation is the day all high schoolers dream about.
They dream about the freedom of moving on to college; going out to live on their own, no parents, no duties, and endless amounts of partying.
I stood up in the podium, wearing my blue cap and gown.
I had my diploma and schlorship to Standford for basketball in the other.
Everyone in sync removed their caps from their heads.
With one swift movement, we all tossed it in the air, just to have to come crashing down.
"Congrats seniors, class of 2013!" the principal announced through a microphone.
Everyone had smiles plastered on their faces, as my eyes searched the audience.
On the mid section, far off to the right, I saw my mother and father.
My dad had a proud smile across his usual grumpy face, and my mother was bawling.
"My baby." I saw my mother mouthed the words.
I laughed, as I gave her a wave.
A few of my friends from the basketball team patted my back, as some girls came to give me hugs.
Soon, we all exited the stage.
We all gathered out to the lobby of the hotel where the graduation ceremony was held, as I searched the crowd for my parents.
I spotted them in a corner, each holding a glass of white wine.
They looked very intent in a conversation they were having with a girl.
I didn't see her face clearly, since she was facing her back towards me.
But, I could tell she wasn't from our school.
She wasn't wearing a graduation cap and gown.
Her long, brown hair cascaded just past her shoulders, and she was wearing a creamy pink dress that fitted her perfectly.
I could tell, just by looking at her back, that she was hot.
A small grin appeared on my face, as I made my way over to them.
My mothers bloodshot eyes lit up, as she smiled.
"Hunter! Honey, we are so proud of you!" my mother said, kissing my cheek.
I coughed with embarassment, as I chuckled half- heartedly.
    "Mom..." I trailed off.
My eyes flickered to the girl standing before us, as I felt my heart pump a little.
She looked familiar, but I couldn't point my finger on it.
She had big, hazel eyes, with dark and long eyelashes framing her unique eye color.
My eyes were immediately drawn to her heart shaped lips.
    They looked soft and kissable.
    Who was this girl?
She gave me a small smile, as a blush crept up her neck, making me smirk.
"Hunter, we're going to talk to the Taylor's for a minute. We'll be right back." my dad said, tugging my mother off.
My attention was all on this mysterious, and hauntingly beautiful girl.
"Do I know you from somewhere?" I finally asked.

    Chapter 32
    Hayden's Point of View
The sweet vanilla ice cream that rolled on the tip of my tongue was now starting to taste bitter.
Why wasn't Hunter looking at me when he asked that question?
He didn't find someone to replace me, did he?
"No, actually. I'm not." I truthfully said, my voice sounded cold and hoarse. "Are you?"
Hunter looked at me with shock, yet I could sense that he was pleased through the sparkly glint in his tropical blue eyes.
Oh, how I missed those bright blue orbs.
"I'm not, either." he said, trying to hide back his excitement.
My stomach began to feel jittery, as I poked the slush of melted ice cream in my cup.
    "Hah, I guess that's-"
Before I got to finish, Hunter was already up, and pulling on my arm.
He dragged out of the ice cream parlor, lacing his fingers through mine.
I blushed, as our warm skin connected.
"Hunter, where are you taking me?" I panted, as Hunter began to run full speed.
It was hard for me to keep up, since he was an athelete.
He didn't reply to me, but I got my answer when my feet started to sink into pools of sand.
We kicked the cold sand behind us, as Hunter pulled us further down the beach.
Was he going to throw me-
Suddenly, I felt freezing cold water rising above my knees, soaking my dress completely.
"H-Hunter!" I said, jaw clencing up and down from my endless shivering.
He laughed, as he inched closer to me.
In the icy water, he wrapped his arms around my waist, taking me by surprise.
His warm body heat warmed me up, and soon, the cold water had no effect on me.
"Are you insane?" I asked, out faces nearly centimeters apart.
It kind of reminded me of the first time we kissed.
I was just as nervous as I was now, and our faces were so close, it was intimidating.
"God, I missed you so much." he whispered, brushing my dampened hair away from my face.
My back arched from his touch, as a small smirk appeared across his lips.
The moon lit up his features, making his skin look ivory pale, and his eyes look so intense.
    I was speechless.
I wanted to tell him how much he meant to me, but words couldn't describe it.
"A year without kissing you... I can't take it any longer." he muttered.
I wanted him as much as he wanted me, even more.
I wanted to feel the sensation of his lips on mine, morphing in sync.
And that's exactly what I felt when he pressed his soft lips upon mine.
His lips were sweet from the ice cream we just devoured, but still minty from his freshly brushed teeth.
I leaned my body further into his, wrapping my arms around his neck, while he had his firmly on my waist.
I felt a tingling sensation on our lips.
I knew it wasn't sparks; it was so much more than that.
We pulled away, as I felt my lip quiver.
"You do realize that we're both going to be sick after this?" he chuckled, pressing his forehead against mine.
I laughed softly, closing my eyes, taking in the moment. "I know, but I really don't care."
"I love you, Hayden." he suddenly said.
My body went numb from excitement, as my heart pounded against my chest.
There was only one thing left for me to say.
    "I love you too, Hunter."
    The End.
I might be starting a new story sometime next week.
There won't be a sequel to this, just because I feel as if there's nothing more to write about.
Hope you liked it :) Thanks my lovely followers for reading! ♥

    Chapter 31
    Hunter's Point of View
    "...oh, Hayden!" Joey finished.
I felt myself stop breathing, as my eyes slowly dragged over to where she was.
She avoided eye contact with me, as she bit down on her lip.
I remember that Hayden used to bite on her lower lip everytime she was nervous.
"Damn!" Joey whistled, eyeing Hayden up and down. "You became hot!"
I glared at Joey, as Hayden gave him a weak smile.
"So, listen, Hunter, if you don't want Hayden anymore, I'll be glad to take her." Joey smirked, placing his cold hands on her thighs.
I saw Hayden flinch at his touch, as I immediately took action.
I peeled his hands off her, pushing him away gently.
"Go find someone else." I told him.
Joey chuckled, sounding like a drunk idiot.
He walked off to another girl who was wearing a bikini with large rinestones.
I took in a deep breath, turning my attention back to Hayden.
She was staring down, twisting the ends of her brown locks.
    I couldn't believe I didn't recognize her.
She changed over the past year.
She became so much more beautiful and confident.
    "Hayden." I whispered.
Her big, hazel eyes stared up at me, as she gave me a half smile. "Hi, Hunter."
I chuckled, scratching the back of my neck. "You're back."
She laughed along with me, as her eyes twinkled even in the dim lighting. "I guess I am."
I licked my lips. "What are you doing here?"
She smiled, rolling her eyes playfully. "Why, you don't want me here?"
During her time away, she definetely became less shy and more outgoing.
I liked her this way, carefee and relaxed.
I knew she probably was still hurt from her dark past, but I could tell by her smile that she was moving on from it.
"Of course I do." I said.
"In that case, I'm here to see you graduate." she explained.
I raised an eyebrow. "You came all the way from California just to see me?"
She smiled. "And Ruth, of course."
I smiled, and took a long minute just to study her for a minute.
I missed her so much, and it was surreal that she was standing just a short foot away from me.
    Gosh, she became so beautiful.
"Do you want to leave? I know parties were never your thing." I suggested.
She smiled, glad that I remembered so much about her. "If you don't mind, I'd love to go get some ice cream."
I grinned, lacing her fingers through mine. "I'm fine with that."
    ~*~*~
"Why do you keep staring at me like that? Do I have ice cream on my face?" Hayden asked, wiping her lips with the back of her hand.
I shook my head, unable to keep myself from smiling at her like an idiot.
"I'm just really glad you're back." I paused. "How have you been this past year?"
Her smiled faded a bit, as her put her spoon down.
"After I moved, I started to see my guidence counselor at my new school. She helped me out, a lot." she said, twirling her half melted ice cream.
"That's good. I could tell that you've changed." I nodded.
She smiled again, and it felt as if the whole room lighted up. "Thanks."
I licked my lips, waiting for the question to roll out my tongue.
"So... are you seeing someone?" I asked, not daring to look at her.
